Anyone uses Money or Quicken

… for their personal finances?

If you do, or have in the past, what is your impression about these software?

I do most of my shopping, banking as well as my credit tracking online. I wouldn’t mind combining it all into one of these software packages but I wanna get some reviews before committing.

I use money and have found it to be very much worth the money. No more spreadsheets trying to figure out which drain I threw the money down. Now Money can simplify that process and even make it look pretty with its reporting capabilities. Currently I think theres a flaw in the program because its been telling me I cant spend twice the amount I earn :D

hmcq, I knew I can count on you!! So, if I go with MS money, what is the one best feature I got to make use of? :~)

You can't transfer excel files directly into Money if you need that option.

Money

The ability to synchronize with online accounts is wonderful. Also if you are a bit data interested, try out the reporting capabilities. Great to know you spent your last month salary on chips and salsa at the local stadium :). You can also build up your budget so you know how you stand at any time with respect to your actual spending Vs your budgeted spending.

we dont..cause we have lives ahmedjee..

I have been using quicken for over 4 years and am very happy with it. Some of the best features are online tracking of my investements, downloading and auto-entering of credit card transactions and customized reporting capabilities. I do itemized deductions when I file my taxes. It was great having my turbo tax software to interact with quicken and have it import all my applicable expenses than can be applied towards itemized deductions for tax return (i.e. medical expenses, donations, etc). For all stock trading I did last year, I didn't have to enter all that info in my turbo tax software. It just downloaded it all from quicken.

Guys .. how easy is it to go between the two? I started with Money and even though I am happy, I wanna try out Quicken. Are the files/data transferable?
