I am doing some research on this medicine for my friend who is very unwell. Doctor has placed him on Azathioprine for past 2 years now as part of a triple therapy treatment course along with other meds for his heart and diabetes. Azathioprines side effects are terrible, rapid muscle loss and no appetite, brain fog affecting memory , twitching, aches and pains and last year the ct scan showed a cyst on the pancreas. Azathioprine was initially prescribed for treating interstitial lung disease. But the doctor isn’t willing to replace this medicine for something else as he’s not sure if it’s definitely azathioprine causing all this? Please can you share your experiences please. I would be very grateful.
