I remember I really used to enjoy these. Went today after quite a few years six at least and I was too scared to go on many. Feeling a bit deflated and disappointed now I am home but at the park I was completely chicken. Anyone else feel like this. Can I overcome my fear or should I not bother going again

You should do it again. Ever watched Fear Factor? You have to face your fears. Try the Goliath at six flags, or some other crazy ride.
Disclaimer: Please follow all safety precautions, and hang on for dear life for duration of the drop, I mean ride.

Me and my eldest sister are pretty scared. We don't go on rides EVER. We just watch my mom and other sisters get on them like no ones business

Hmmna–it’s never happened that I used to go and then develop a fear to not go. The way I got my cousin to ride her first was to just close her eyes the entire way. Maybe it’ll help you regain the confidence? But what did happen is in primary school I could get up in front of class and act stupid but then later developed fear of public speaking! 
teggy–Goliath is AMAZINGGGGG!!! Especially at night. It’s the ride we always end with before leaving sixflags!

Enchanting rose there were two grannies sitting on the roller coasters riding and waving their hands in the air! I was so ashamed but still couldn't do it.i did go on the less scary water rides.
A question why do people lift their hands in the air on roller cos. I would die!

Heck i stay faaaaaaaaaar away from roller coasters or any such rides. I dont know if i should call it a scare but i'm definitely not a ride person. Its actually pretty boring cuz then i cant go to any carnivals, six flags etc.
Last i sat was on the giant pirate boat and i remember everytime it used to go high or low, i felt sick to stomach and felt like getting thrown out to the ground
On the other hand i see these kids these days, they hv so much fun and they go on really scary rights without fear.

Don't go Alton Towers, stick to Thorpe Park.

I used to be a sucker for scary rides but after having kids became totally paranoid. After hearing too many accident news in theme parks I don't even let my kids go on the rides.
The scariest ride I've been on is called No Way Out in Didneyland Paris..it's a roller coaster in blinding dark going backwards. Much more scary than Inferno and Vampire Bats in Thorppe Park.

I know several people who give a Sophie's choice of roller coaster vs watching Misbah bat chosen the roller coaster option.
