Please share your experiences. I am on flouxetine since past 8-9 months and do not feel good about myself.
I wont to know whats the indication that you dont need to have the medication any longer?
Are there any side effects when discontinuing the medicine?
Generally speaking how much long the med needs to be taken?
How does it different from other common ADs?

Okay let me share my exp. I am having it for dysthymia n depression, a condition known as double depression.
I started the medication about 9 months back. Using the medicine has been a painful experience for me. First effects were palpitation, acidity, heartburn and headaches which subsided over the time as I altered the use as told by the doctor. Later on I felt light-headed, slightly more talkative and relaxed. But in the successive weeks I passed through different states during which i felt anything but normal or like myself, as I used to be. My dosage was increased from 40 to 60mg. I get to have spasmodic occurrences of paranoia and severe anxiety. I feel myself in a state of delirium sometimes and my intuition seems impaired at those times. But generally I have been feeling good about myself and 80% of the time quite normal.
I have been told that these symptoms are normal and I should continue on with the medicine and should take another drug to counter those side effects and these effects would subside in a matter of 2-3 months. And that I have to spend three months without having any adverse effects before tapering off and discontinuing the medication.
