Anyone into gardening here?

I moved into my first house ever and have been learning a lot about my plants/trees/shrubs. I have 4 bradford peers trees and 2 Oak Trees. For shrubs, I have Indian Hawthorne, Youpan Holly burford holly and Texas Sage in flower beds. For plants I have Heavnly Bamboo and miniature roses in my flower beds. I plan to plant prennial and annual flowers from seeds late this winter so they can be ready to be transplanted outside comes spring. I am very excited. Any guppy/guppen into gardening at all?

I also intend to create a veggie/fruit bed in my backyard where I want to plant some hard to find seeds especcially from pakistan/india. Some of the ones I have been thinking about are jaaman and phalsa. Any other ideas?

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I love gardening too. I have a small backyard, so I am limited with my options. I have allocated a small (5 ft by 10 ft) area for farming veggies. At present I have green chilli peppers, cilantro and mint. I used to have tomatoes and cantaloups but they never turned out right.

In trees, I have a pear and lokaat. Both are yet to bear fruit.

I have all sorts of flower beds...roses, chambeli and your regular perennials.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Where did yoy get the chambeli seeds? what are they called in the U.S? Its not jasmine is it?

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

5 by 10 ft is a pretty decent size bed by the way.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I got mine from Pak.

Yeah it is a good size but I wish I had ten times more space.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I hate gardening but my mother loves it. I wish we had a smaller garden (landscape) then what we have right now. :(

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

There are some things in life better done without others help. You are a married man. You should know.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Oh..you mean "gardening" ;) Laying the seed with a hoe!!! You go on, ya playa!!

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

its called Jasmine...you can get jasmine plants in the uk...tehre are the houseplant type that generally die outside and there is a hardy type...i forget its name.
an alternative in my opinion is honeysuckle...you can get a pink version or yellow flower one

its smells nice

I hate the smell of Chambeli!

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Do they have "raat ki rani" in US, if yes then what is it called in english?

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

^ Yes we do...you can usually find them in Vegas.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Yes we do. Contact USA’s only supplier, Mr Pinstripe Danda. In English, we call him a broker.

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

Daisy, you won’t know a good thing even if it bit you on the ass.

Jasmine cannot survive in cold. I live in zone 5 and I have to bring my Jasmine indoors when it gets below 50. I have had mine for over 2 years now and it is flourishing!

The fragrance is heavenly! They tend to bloom every 2 or 3 weeks. Lots of sunshine and a little miracle gro does wonders..

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I have two varieties of chilies, bell peppers, tomatoes and eggplant... The harvest was great... have more tomatoes and chilies than I know what to do with.

Burn Funguy, burn! :D

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I kill every plant that comes a few feet within me :(

do you guys mean to tell me that jasmine can grow indoors??

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

don’t they have to have a dormant period - if these are prennials they have to have it is what I have heard. U can probably prolong its survival for the year by bringing it indoor though

Re: Anyone into gardening here?

I have hired a guy for lawn mowing and I am also paying “True Green” furtilizer/weed & feed lawn treatments 6 times a year. But this, I have to do it since I have always wanted to do it.
