Hi folks,
I am being approached by one of the currently popular Linux distros about a possible dev/support/performance management opportunity. I would like to know from anyone who has worked at a OSS company about what could be the advantages and pitfalls being a tech/dev/support manager in such a company.
Re: Anyone here working for an OpenSource Software, or Linux Distro Company
I don't know, you get a chance to learn system level programming. I would take the opportunity. Then slightly I would slip into kernel development and then year later I would snap out and start working for embedded system /kernel (soc(system on chip)) developing companies .
Then few years later I would move to pakistan and setup a team there and do some serious OS development. I would also contact "suparco" space and outer atm. research institute Pakistan. Who always want to talk to such individual.
But its just me.

I already work in an Embedded systems company (S/W dev for DSP/ARM and other uPs) as a project manager... hence the question :)

Good suggestion.
