No its not a red flag. People don’t want to share their info with strangers so they make their profiles private. That does not mean necessarily that they are hiding something. If things on the rishta front go well then there is no harm to befriend them on social media and see their profile history, work, education etc.

Yes people lie about education (esp. the girls’ side) and for guys its mostly about their work/income.
