After reading the post on kormas at weddings I realised that at the last wedding I was at there was a lovely channa daal. Not sure if daal is the norm at weddings but if it is does anyone know of a recipe for it?
I’ve found a channa daal recipe from Rahat with loads of masala-I’ve made it and it doesn’t taste like the lovely one at the wedding.
Last question-for those of you who cook meat and daal mixed dishes does the dish taste more of meat than lentils? I love daal, other half loves meat and I’ve seen a few recipes I’d like to give a bash in the slow cooker.
**daal is never served at shaadis...kia Abdulla deevaane kii shaadii par gaii thiiN? hahaha
vaise, honestly...i was flying First Class from Hong Kong to Delhi on United Airlines and guess what? i was served with khichRii...lol...imagine khichRii at 37, 000 feet...luckily there were 5 main course entries on the menu so i chose chicken :)**
^ They do serve channas and puri with halwa on mehndis. Its a new menu trend for mehndis in pak and very cost effective as well. Had the chance to attend three mehndis with channas, halwa and puri as main course.
daal channa is one of the essentials in peshawari weddings...they call it QOURMA...n there QOURMA means not tht chicken or mutton's but this daal chnna with meat.....so yes...daal chnna z being served in weddings.....n trust me, it tastes out of this world :)
