If yes, then do you happen to know any desi grocery places and maybe some nice desi resturants in that area?

I used to live there, quite a few desi places, depending on which area you live in. we were in the suburbs of manchester, mo (about 20-30 mins from downtown) on manchester rd itself quite a few grovery stores, Mid-East market is the best one, selling halal meat too. less than a mile from there was this desi restaurant 'Saffron', pretty good food especially the weekend buffet. oh and there is this Al Riaz take out place nearby which sells the most authentic home cooked Pakistani food, they are excellent for catering too.
another i remember was 'hot n sour', Indian hakka style chinese, halal and pretty good. in downtown st. louis on Grand ave there are a few middle eastern restaurants that were good, sorry don't remember names. oh and if you are into dahi baras, samosas and vegetarian stuff then there is Gokuls, its a south indian vegetarian place which has really good stuff. hope this helps!

I live in St Louis, the Manchester Road area as Wondergurl said is where lots of desis live. Besides Mideast market , there is Seema groceries which is maily Indian groceries and India Kitchen Indian style halal resturant. Saleem's is another Mideastern halal resturant in Mancehster. Salam Groceries and halal meat is a n arabicstyle grocery store near teh masjid on Manchetser and Waidman Road. There is an Indian Restuarnt esp good for halwa puri on weekends on Olive and 270. Akbar grocery and St Louis halal Meat are also grocery stores in St Louis though not located on Mancester Rd. Besides Hot and Sour there is also Fu Lin, halal chinese resturant.
