Anyone else have a story like this?

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

why is it always the old ladies?

my sister was on the subway recently reading a little book of duas, shes hijabi and this old lady started saying at the top of her voice continuously f*** God, and muttering to herself.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

^^Senility or early alzheimers.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

It's not always the old ladies. My first similar experience was a year ago. It wasn't an old lady that time. My wife and I were waiting for our luggage at the carousel at the airport. At that time also my wife was wearing her burqa/niqab. We were just minding our own business when this woman walks up to us and tells me "This is an insult to the women of this country." At this point I'm really surprised, wondering what I might have done to upset her. At first I thought maybe she was upset that I didn't help her lift her heavy luggage or something like that. After a while, I realize what she really meant. I thought of responding to her, but then decided against it, thinking that there wouldn't be anything to gain by trying to explain it to her. Anyhow, after seeing that I was ignoring her, she also started ranting about how the women in Canada fought hard for their rights. I continued ingoring her then she finally left us alone.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

Not in real life but I was playing game online and there was pakistan flag with my nick in the game and the guy said "hello terrorist".

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

I do not mean any dis-respect or anything but what if your wife spoke to these women and explained to them that she wears the Niqab/hijab out of her own free will. Maybe it might change their way of thinking?

Just a thought..Ofcourse it is entirely up to you whether you decide to speak so your wife does not have to. Just a suggestion…

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

Exactly. If she kept silent, it probably just reaffirmed the crazy woman’s beliefs.

I think you handled it well, tho.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

If I would have asked her to speak, they probably would have thought that she said what she would have said out of fear. In both the incidents that I mentioned, the women both approached me in a hostile manner. That's why I thought that reasoning with them wouldn't have been of any use, though I could be wrong. There have been other women who asked my wife about why she wears the burqa, and they did so in a nice, civilized manner.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

i wear hijab and its all normal to me now as it happen to me couple of times…
once i was going to this market and a car passed with so much force that i thought i was gonna fly away .and while passing, some guys in the car opened the door and shouted to me " ******* terorist" i was in a shock and then i realised i had this army printed sweatshirt on…i couldnt do anythign and the whole street was looking at me…
the other time after this Xtra security at the airports, i was going to frankfurt everyone was frustrated cause it was so time consuming and while i was in the checkout counter a lady started to say something to me like " all this happened after that 9/11 …yada yada"…:bummer: i ignored her and kept doing wat i was doing..
at the same trip, on my way back,@ the immigration counter, the offficers were gathering all the people who seemed questionable(err) specially arabs in a room, and they were asking them about their stuff..at my turn, the immigration officer (a middle age lady), after asking abt the usual stuff she asked me if had any food or TERRORIST stuff(jokingly) in my luggage..and she started laughing..how funny..and i said NO i DONT’ then she said just kidding..and lemme out.

A Love Story
Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived:
Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love.
One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink,
so they all prepared their boats and left. Love was the only one who stayed.
Love wanted to stay until it started sinking.
When Love was almost sinking, he decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a beautiful boat.
Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't..
There is a lot of gold and silver in my
boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by,
"Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you Love. You are all wet and can probably damage my bo! at," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh...Love, I am so sad that I prefer to go alone!"
Happiness passed by Love too, but she was so happy
that she did not listen when Love called her!
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you."
It was an elder.
Love became so happy that he even forgot to ask the elder her name.
When they arrived at dry land, the elder went on her own way.
Love asked Knowledge, another elder, the name of the elder who had helped him.
"It was Time," answered Knowledge.
"Time? But why did Time help me?" asked Love.
"Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is," answered Knowledge.
"Love Is Like A Piano. It Depends On You , How To Play It".....
