Anyone else have a story like this?

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

Two weeks ago at work I had to send samples out of state, and as wel all know overnight delivery is possible in this day and age ... anyways, I packaged up my samples, put labels on and called up the courrie for a pick - then this lady comes in and says to me "you shouldn't be sending things out on Thursday" my response was -Why not?? Then she say's to me "What if there is a terrorist attack and your samples get stuck" - my response was there only going up to Maine, then she shots back with "terroist attack can happen anywhere"!! After that only thing out of my mouth was "Oh well" - and since then everytime I see her at work I think about what she said to me ... I'm still not over it!!

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

I want a good Islamic B*TCH who would be ready to roll up her sleeves and jump on anyone who insults her. Too many of our women are way too modest. That's becomming a problem.

Islamic B*TCH zindabad!

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

There are very little desis in our area, I went to Catholic school for 12 years and my brother lives in a totally white area, nothing but Walmart and Publix and Targets all around. I can honestly say, my mother and I have never come across anything like this, not before 9/11, during or after, never any incidents on the subway or anywhere else Alhumdulillah.

Coupla yrs ago on the way to a wedding, my parents stopped and asked for directions. The wedding was somewhere in NJ and there was a factory closeby. So my uncle drives into a very black area, and asks some guys "Where is the Budweiser factory?" Im sure it must have been quite a sight, one bearded guy, one grl in shalwar kameez and one in burka :D

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

Such incidents should serve as a reminder to us to not discriminate against others or paint everyone with the same brush.

Btw... is staying absolutely quite or smiling back while being insulted the best solution?

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

In this case staying quiet and smiling would have been the best thing to do. It will either get them to leave you alone sooner or it will show them that you are not affected by their ranting.

Another similar incident happend to me once at the airport. My wife and I were at the carousel taking our stuff. While we were there, a woman (different from the one in today's incident) came up to me and said "This is an insult to the women of our country!" It took me some time to figure out what she meant. Then she started ranting something about women's rights. Anyhow, after I realized what she meant, I considered replying to her, but then decided against it. So that time I just completely ignored her and she realized it would be pointless for her to try to tell me anything about my wife wearing burqa. She walked away angry after a minute or so.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

i never knew ppl had to face stuff of this sort ........maybee 'cause i live in KSA.....& wearing niqab here is no problem @ all........
but i feel bad if someone has to face something like this................it's horrible.......

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

Just a thought is your wife doing hijab by her own will or you insist? If she is doing it as per your wish that explains her keeping quiet? Please don’t get offended it’s just an idea. :halo:

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

No offense taken. My wife does it completely out of her own choice. Of course I endorse it and encourage her to do it. She’s been wearing burqa and niqab to go out from since before we married. Before our marriage was finalized, she made sure that I would allow her to continue wearing it.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

:k: Good for you and your wife. Both of you are good and brave people.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

In 2003 me and my friend went to walmart after eid prayer to get some charcoal, since it was sort of off day for us so we decided to do the BBQ,i was wearing my paki dress ,as we were waiting to be checked out a black guy standing behind us asked the cashier " Are you going to check out Taliban first or an american".First it was pretty funny i wanted to laugh but i sucked it up and turned around and said " excuse me ..u know my plane is parked outside better watchout for ur home i might fly into it".He laughed and said " i'm just kidding homie". I said its not funny man how about if i call u Niger how u gonna feel. And forget about calling you Niger .let me tell u something i wasnt shipped to america i entered america on my own will with proper documents and proper means of transportation. At that point i realized that the cashier was a black chick too. Well i said scew that,i dont care ,they all can kiss my a.

*......T G....I think next time your wife should speak out " its not an expression of Oppression" to change the misconception of western lady. *

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

I get stuff sometimes.

Once I was standing in the mall with my girlfriend. I was wearing a scarf and she wasnt. So this young guy walks by, glares at me and asks, "Are you carrying a bomb in that scarf?" My friend became livid and yelled at him. I stayed quiet.

Other times I have heard stuff while riding in the car, or just walking around.

Re: Anyone else have a story like this?

You should know that wearing a burqa and niqab is not an Islamic tradition but an Arab tradition.....

So wearing one, you are not abiding by islamic traditions and upholding your faith but an arab tradition

women were in niqab and burqas before the coming of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) in Arabia
