Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

I hate Pakistani fashion these days with a passion, i swear to God. The necklines are so big that if you are not careful enough, your bra will show. The clothes are so unbelievably tight that you would be scared to breathe in them. The necklines so big showing cleavage and half the back. The fabric is so see-through that if you do not wear a chemise or a camisole under, your skin will be showing.

And then i hate the fact that these people have the audacity to criticize Western wear. At least jeans are not see through like shalwars. I swear when it gets super windy in Karachi, your duppata goes up in one direction and your kameez in the other exposing your see-through shalwars.

I specifically asked my darzi to not make huge *gallay *but he ended up making them big anyway and now i have to keep pulling my shirt back all the time. I bought this amazing Bareeze lawn shalwar qameez, had it stitched and when i wanted to wear it, i realized it was really see-through, almost transparent. :frowning:

And then there is the other extreme of maternity wear. :barbie: Whatever happened to good ol’ Shalwar Qameezain? The shalwars that covered our ankles and kameez upto our knees and looked classy and elegant?

See how classy and beautiful this can make us look?

Anyway rant over.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

I like the Pakistani fashion these days, whats wrong with it? It looks really nice...even Indian designer Manish Malhotra's recent designs are inspired by our fashion. I wish i was in Pakistan so that i could have gotten as many suits as i could...I love the frock like shirts and all.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Bollywood designers copying our look does not make it okay for me. And frocks were really popular until last to last year. Last year was all about long A-line shirts and this year, the qameez have become even longer. Pakistani women happen to be petite, normally, so the a-line qameez upto your ankles and showing an inch of gharara-like trousers is just too much fabric. It looks good on women who are tall like 5’6 and over.

Aaj kal kuch yeh scene hai

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

omg no trousers or capriiii?? love the fshion to death but cn nevr imagine being without trouser/pants.. the whole look is incomplete. first they didnt put dupatta on and now dis......!!! totally iinsane!

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

if you lookk closely, she's wearing trousers, you can't sell clothes without them in Pakistan, yet!

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

You dont have to copy the exact design, you can make your own changes in the length and fitting of the dress.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Aaj kal sab in hai.Whether a Long A-line / Anarkali's OR Short shirts on capris or trousers. Its up to you to wear a see through shalwar or long neck. I do find anyone wearing big necks or see through shalwars, its not verycommon.Go for darker shades if it is sheer so again its entirely ur decision.

The latest trend or fashion 2011 : Churidar or Tights type pajamas.
In shirts : Angrakha, Frock / anarkali style. Long ankle and knee length both. My preference is ankle lenght.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

I like the long kurtas because they are so comfortable...
but ur right I see alot of long necks and see through outfits but I just choose not to buy them. There are so many options out there (I live in US so the options are a bit limited but you can simply choose not to buy a outfit if it is revealing) especially if u live in Paki.
Most of the lawn suits are see through so I just buy darker colors or wear a cami under it.
I like how every one can always rock a simple shalwar kurta but it is almost impossible to find a good shalwar kurtas... plus the ones I do find look so out-dated.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Since I have a full chest I need a tailored waist or else I just look as wide as that and I'm not a fan of wearing circus tents. I have noticed lately things are becoming more fitted through the waist so I don't mind longer shirts I just want form fitted clothing to come back.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Fashion all over the world is going down the gutter…

It used to take 24yards of cloth just to make one dress… these days they just throw some cheese cloth over thier shoulders and walk off…

And the men are just as bad. :zobo:

What ever happened to decency… theres a few good things still around but mostly it gets worse.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

I agree with gupper, I missed average length kameez with simple shalwar! It loooks sooooooo nice and soooooo pakistaniii!! and i still wear it maybe cus wher i live it doesnt matter whether r u wearin trendy stuf or not but IF I WEAR THEM IN PAK....PPL GOES OMGGGGG UR SUCHA BUDDHI AMMMAAAAA then i have to get cus i get annoyed by those comments :(

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Hi Everyone,

that's a really interesting thread, girls. I am a little bit confused these days, as i don't know how to rate the 2011 trends. Officially i don't care a damn about trends, but inofficially i still end up having some of them.
Low necklines and backlines are a big no for me. And i really don't like other girls wearing them as it looks cheap to me. I personally really like the A-line shirts with trousers, they look very comfortable. The ankle long shirts are not my type and it's a waste of material for the trouser, as u hardely see some inches.

The problem with trends is, that they are too short-lived. I am not living in Pak and i can't get latest clothes that fast, so it doesn't make sense following trends. For example i have some formal suits which i bought 2 years ago with short kameez but there wasn't any occation to wear them. Now i will wear them on 2 weddings in april and i don't care if i am the only one on the guest list who wears a short kameez with normal shalwar : )

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

I agree.

The jeans are better than the current Pakistani Shalwar Qameez where the side cuts go all the way to armpits.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Don't forget to mention the low-waist shalwar or trousers.

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

What?! Wjere is this fashion? Clothing these days is sooo loose...im actually finding it to my advantage being pregnant and still being able to fit in these flowy alines and frocks!

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Just because something is in fashion, you don't have to go for it. Especially something like a neckline is really absurd to follow you shud hve fired yr tailor for not listening to you.

Yes, lawn suits r very see thru and i also hate having to wear slips underneath because its already unbearable hot in summers. Maybe you should go for cotton?

Re: Anyone else hates Pakistani fashion these days?

Well it is normal that people will show skin in freaking 100 degree weather in Pakistan!
