Anyone doing pilates regularly, what were/are your feelings…pls share…thanks
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
oh wow! i was just about to start a thread about this. :)
sadi79...I would like to add to your questions. hope you dont mind.
how many of you have been doing pilates? for how many yrs? have you been at the advanced level?
I have been doing pilates regularly for almost 2 yrs...but last night I took my first ADVANCED pilates class and boy let me know tell you.....it was killing me!! in a good way though :D
The class was an hr long and I kept looking at the clocking waiting for the time to go by....it's def not as easy as it looks.
For those that are just starting pilates...
it's going to be difficult in the begining and you may want to give up right away...DONT! with time and practice (at least 3 times a week) you will become a pro at it. Within a few weeks you will notice long lean muscles starting to develop, you will look and feel great, posture will be better, you will have more stability, and you will become more flexible.
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly

Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
Can you do pilates at home or do you have to get a trainer to train you on it first? Is there like a beginner's pilates or something?
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
^ you can do it at home....they have many pilates videos out there for beginners.
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly

pilates and yoga are similar in many ways...both use your own body resistance to build tone and muscle.
pilates and yoga have different breathing techniques. with yoga you are taught to inhale and exhale through the nose only whereas with pilates you are taught to inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
yoga is more therapeutic...it unites the mind, body, and spirit. It helps reduce stress. pilates aims more towards developing core strength and elongating the spine, increasing overall strength, tone and muscle, and helps with posture...although yoga does much of the same it is still not the main aim. Most of the positions in yoga and pilates are similar but there are slight variations.
hope that helped you get a better understanding of the differences. :)
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
girls u can also sign up for Veria on dish network, they have an hours worth of yoga and pilates on it daily! and its not even a pricey channel plus they keep giving u healthy eating tips and other good stuff.
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
Veria? hmmm nvr heard of it. I'll have to look into it. Although I prefer going to my classes.... but this channel might be nice to have on those rainy lazy days. The same old videos get boring after a while 2.

Me too ![]()
I think it’s best for me to sign up for a class. Independent work outs just don’t work for me.
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
I do yoga daily on my Wii Fit

Does that count? :halo:
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
^ OMG do you and does it "work"?
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
^I love it Sahar!! It's not just yoga, the 'game' also has cardio excersizes (fatburning) where you just have to copy your virtual instructor. Balancing games and also it keeps track of your BMI and you have to do a bodytest daily. I got it last Friday and been on it everyday a few hours after dinner for at least 30-40 mins!
Yoga excersizes are great! It helps you breating right too and I'm getting better every day :-)

Ya you can find a ton of videos for different level workouts. I started doing pilates with one last year, did it a few times a week and felt it was helping me, but then I just got too busy and stopped. Id like to start it up again this summer or else join a gym and take classes because I think that would be funner!
Re: Anyone doing pilates regularly
I really want to start pilates but get abit self-conscious going to the classes for some reason. Does anyone know where i can go for proffessional classes in birmingham ?
