Re: anyone do the south beach diet?

the protein bars are really good, Cinnamon raisin is my fav. i suggest that..

besides that .. following a particular diet like atkins, south beath, slim fast etc. is ALL a waste of money. you should just do some research on how the diets work and follow the same guideline.. theirs no point in going out of your way and buying the products

Re: anyone do the south beach diet?

i did the south beach diet several years ago and it really does work. i'll try to give u advise to the best of my memory!! the thing to understand is that this diet focuses mainly on proteins and GOOD carbs (such as 100% whole wheat). once u understand this concept, then its easy to understand what you can and cant eat.
the diet is mainly focused on meats (chicken, lean beef, fish, etc.) but it has to be lean, of course, with as less fat content as possible or else it defeats the purpose. along with this you are allowed certain vegatables which has the lowest sugar/carb content, ex. broccoli, spinach, asparagus, beans etc. try your best to stay away from potatoes, tomatoes, corn, carrots, beets, etc as these are higher in sugar and starch and of course carbs.
so along these lines, i pretty much used to cook either sabzee (vega) salan or korma with chicken or beef or something. and when cooking roti i made sure to buy 100% Whole Wheat Atta...because the other finer more refined stuff is just crap. its got no nutritional value and all and is a bunch of empty carbs, u know?

i hope this helps, again, its been a while since i did the diet so i dont know if i remember everythiing correctly
