:omg:

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

i didn’t mean only belly dancing, obviously that’s a females only dance for some strange reason…

there are dances that involve men too:zobo:

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

Belly dancing involves men?

:aq:

Thats…eew.

EDIT- You edited your post :vivo:

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

almost every other dance needs partners, duh, like ballroom dancing, salsa, rumbha and so many others...although it doesn't look too manly when the men wear those tight pants and open button shirts :P

dance makes exercise fun :) Shak should try it

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

Ok so this is kind of embarrassing, a couple of months ago everyone around me was in this Zumba craze…one day while flipping through the channels, I happened to see a Zumba show on, and wanted to see what the fuss what about…I was home alone at the time…locked the doors, shut the blinds and tried to follow along…omg! I’m sure it helps you lose weight and tone but I could not keep up for the life of me…it seems easy at first, they go through the steps slowly and act like its nothing…but then they get all fast on you and don’t even let you breathe…sheesh…I seriously looked like a fool trying to keep up…needless to say I never went back to it…:hinna:

There's that dance game you can get on the Wii, I think it's called Just Dance. You basically have a selection of songs and the dances are choreographed for you and you have to copy the dance. The dance moves are a lot like aerobic exercises... I played the game at a friends and it's really fun and it provides a good work out without taking itself too seriously.

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

Well I do (depends on the mood) bollywood + indian folk dance for fun (the next step is to learn some professional bhangra) and meantime exercise bhi kaafi ho jhati hai. I have been doing it for some years now and it's so much fun! And beside that: you're gonna' rock at the family mehndi function :D

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

oh heh.

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

***Nisha i've always dancercized to tone up and lose weight !

I cannot exercise without music and so either make a playlist and hula hoop to it like for 30 min or just dance !

Another alternative is belly-dancing DVDs.......they are awesome and really tone up your abs arms and thighs.........I got these Bellydancing Cardio DVDs where they explain each movement by breaking it up and showing you how to combine it and involve different muscle groups.......

U can also Utube some of these videos........really worth a try !***

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

sheyn I've done bellydancing since i was in high school so i've always had a fondness for it

but lately, there are those nina/vina bellydancing dvds that i just use just to stay in shape, they work the arms, legs, and every part. yup youtube has almost everything nowadays.

that zumba dance looks interesting :D, i'm going to try it in the evening today when i get time

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

Thats just unbelievable.

He cant call himself a man.

Shocker.

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

^ I just pretend I didn't saw that!
Walks over to the mirror and TRIES to do some belly dancing

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

just like bhangra seems more of a masculine dance to me, belly dancing is more of a feminine dance, i guess that's the one dance that a man would look awkward dancing. but the speed and flexibility with which he's doing those moves is impressive. it just takes the eyes some time to get used to seeing a man belly dancing that's all :P

do women even do bhangra? i really would not know

Re: anyone dance for exercise, which type?

aerobics is a dance exercise and i love doing it i have a huge collection of cds by various trainers. its fun
