Hi All, I am a new guppy. My husband and I are planning to visit Cairo for 1 week with our 4 yr old for the first time. We would welcome any suggestions, tips, DOs & DONTs, etc.

Cairo! Yes! Plenty of places to see. Aparts from the pyramids, plenty of places related to Islamic history. Traffic is terrible. Avoid driving yourself at all costs. Tourists can easily get ripped off. Do negotiate on price. Road side markets have a good collection of souveniors. Take a Nile Cruise if you have time. Almost all the hotels have Belly-Dancers in their resturants if you are interested.
Visit Alexandria, if at all possible. 2-3 hours bus ride from Cairo. Magnificent beach. Built around the curving Mediterranian coast, the views are spectacular. Sea food is excellent. Much less traffic compared to Cairo. Friendlier people. Cheaper. Has a touch of European cities.
