One friend lived in an apartment that he later found out was the site of a suicide hanging not long before he moved in! Spooky!

Sadly we tried levitation as well, especially when kids got together at a dinner party... anyone did the Bloody Mary thing....i forgot we would say bloody mary a few times in the dark and then go look in the mirror i think...supposedly u would see her ghost...who knows. I know back then we were scared as ever!!!!
Actually instead of just saying bloody mary a few times if you'd drank a few bloody marys you definitely would have seen a few ghosts. :)

I haven't had this "rooh bulana" excercise ever. However, one of my immediate family member has been a victim of "Jinn Qabza Group" for many years. I witnessed a few episodes myself. When that person had an attack (getting unconcious for a while, then saying strange things) I used to recite Ayahs from Quran (char-qul, surah rehma, suran saafaat etc.) and it appeared to cure the condition symptomatically every time. The jinn said that I live on the trees in front of our house.
Initially, we took that person to the doctor and he said that this was an attack of hysteria. However, nothing could cure it. Only spiritual healing helped...
Eventually, we found a buzurg in the city, who cured that person and I happened to be sitting in the room while it was happening. The buzurg called the Jinn (by asking the patient to drink some parha hua paani), asked him to leave... The buzurg also reproduced the imprints of a taaweez that was the reason for the person getting occupied by the Jinn.
This is a first hand experience.
Personally, I have had strange experiences while sleeping. I wake up feeling a huge load on my body, I am awake but I can neither move nor open my eyes. Only after struggling for a few seconds, trying to move as much as I can, I am able to open my eyes and move. Its pretty scary.
Sometimes, while sleeping, I feel someone approaching and touching my back or feet when there is no body in the room. That's pretty scary too.
However, these things used to happen more frequently in the past, not so much these days.
I hope it doesn't sound funny, nor freak any one out. Allah knows everything that lies hidden from us.

^ You know, now I remember that something similar to your dream experience happened with me for so many years. I used to dream that someone who is as tall as 4 year old kid is sitting on my chest. In my dreams, I am scared to death and cannot move, cannot scream. After a while, I could just scream a little, more like a fearful groaning and then I would wake up.
This is after my marriage. One day I was sleeping and having the same dream, some voice in my wife's dream (who was sleeping next to me) ask her to wake up and help Tariq (she was aware of my dreams. I was waking up every other night screaming like old pakistani filmi heroine).
She woke up and looked at me and with in two seconds I uttered my famous scream and woke up. She then consoled me and recited Qul for me.
I started reciting quls before going to sleep and have not had that experience in years now.
Pretty spooky and funny. Kind of like "Night mare in the Elm street" meet "Dracula ki wapsi"

I have been told to recite Ayat-al-Kursi three times and the last 10 surahs of Quran before going to bed. It helped.

Once my cousin and me were doing the ouija board thing but I messed around with the letters, she absoloutley freaked out and ran to my mom, lol, she's still scared about it now. lol
my mates have had spirit experiences, one got slapped when there was nobody else in the room, another one saw people walking in his house, this one guy I know claims to be a medium. one of the aunties my mom knows claims that stuff is always moving about in her house, she'll put a cup on the counter and when she turns around it's gone, i later found out that their houses were built on a cemetery not long ago and i heard jinns live in cemetries.

Souls of Pious people (often referred to as Awliya) are not put in Illiyeen after the death but since soul is made of light, it becomes part of angels and hence become free but work with angels. They do visit us but we are not aware of.
I heard Christians believe that pious people are turned into angels but I didn't know it was an Islamic belief as well, can you confirm it for me please?
PS. By Illiyeen do you mean barzakh? Illiyeen is a Tablet/Scripture/Record containing all information whereas it's Barzakh which is the phase in the grave between death and resurrection.

I did not say that people become angel. It's a concept of Sufism that souls of pious people are freed and start working with angels - they do not become angels.
illiyeen or Aalaa illiyeen is the place where believers' souls are kept and Sijjeen is the place where non-believers' souls are kept after death.
What you are refering to is Lohim Mahfooz/Kitaabum Maknoon/Umm-ul-Kitaab (All three Quranic terms)
As for barzakh, it's the life in between this life and life of hereafter - a waiting period ... souls are in waiting period till day of judgement whether they are in Illiyeen, sijjeen, or working with angels (again they are not angels - they are souls of human beings)
