Anybody affected by ASD or Autism?

Re: Anybody affected by ASD or Autism?

Thats a tough one to call Robert. Some kids on the spectrum grow up to be - like hubby and I - just not that "into" people, prefer to do things alone or in very small groups, prefer things to be very clear and straightforward. Just a bit "odd". The right therapies can make a huge difference, there are all kinds of medications and diets that you can try...we never give up. My eldest son is more severely affected than youngest, the middle one not at all. Youngest prefers to play alone, incessantly asks math questions, flaps his hands like a bird but otherwise has tested as "age appropriate". Eldest has more of a struggle. He's my "sunshine boy", very excitable happy and loving, perhaps overly so which makes people take a step back at times. Yet, we have all the right therapies and interventions in place so inshallah he will find a good place in the world for himself. I really dont worry much about what others think anymore...I used to for sure. But you get to grow a pretty thick skin after a bit. For sure, its a bit tougher because I'm gori and hubs is Desi...so the goris say well its all because she married a desi and the desis say for sure its that gori. lol. Anyway, autism affects almost as many kids in Pak as it does anywhere else. Its just that Pak doesnt have the facilities to diagnose or treat it to anywhere near the degree that US does. Disabilities in Pak are kind of hidden away know what I mean? And the professionals who could really help tend to seek work outside of Pak. I dont know if this helps at all...but feel free to pm me or ask anything else you'd like....
