man, I have emailed them countless times about starting their channel in USA but not a single reply. Once I read that since Pak-SAT 1 is in orbit it would much cheaper for the local channels global transmission and soon ARY, Indu etc would launching their channels.
But if you visit their website, not even a single word. You contact them and no reply. Does anyone know what’s going on?
They are Pakistanis, they are too busy to reply.
I got the subscription a while ago (here in Austria) and have not heared about any expansion plans to the US.

what about Geo TV?
My two cents, but ARY has some shows that might be offensive to American government. If they got rid of those shows, it would be much easier to get the channel started in the US. Same goes for Indus, and Geo. Prime is here because, looky looky, no anti-American talk shows - all the political oriented shows are pak-gov't controlled via PTV-main.
And yeah there has been criticism on some prime shows, but its nothing like the stuff i saw in Pakistan on ARY and GEO and INDUS NEWS.

i don't think they're not here because of anti-americanism or anything, our channels are just so damn disorganized, it took prime tv eight years to get in the USA, whereas ZeeTV was here from the beginning. there's probably some legal wrangling going or, who knows? i hope they get more pak channels.
since i don't live in pak, can someone tell me what the channels over there are now and what they generally show?
when i last went, they had:
PTV - govt channel
STN - dramas and entertainment, great channel, CNN during the day
PTV World - for overseas viewers (Middle East)
are there more now?

Nothing easier than that. Mr. Purewal is the sole distributor for ARY Digital in Austria. Contact him at his shop (near Mariahilfer Strasse) and get the subscription from him. I can PM you his phone number too, if you want.
Before doing that you should have a satellite dish installed though. The digital receiver will be provided by Purewal then.

If you don't have a cable connection or a satellite dish, it's still these 3 channels.
Though mostly people do have cable connections with approx. 30 channels these days.

and they had a few other cheapo type channels. There was this one music channel - forgot its name - but they showed the most weird videos - even Indus Music wouldn't show them.
Of all of them - I think Indus Music was the most well done channel EVER. But that's because I like the music and that's pretty much all I had time to watch when I was in Pakistan - those dramas are harder to follow.

I am thinking of getting satellite in my new apartment. Please do give me Mr. Purewal’s contact info. Can you tell me the aprox. costs. Just one more, what kind of satellite dish do I need, any particular one or just ANY ?
You can use any kind of satellite dish. The bigger the better. Regular ones are 60 cm, the one we are using is 100 cm.
But the receiver has to be a digital one.
Back then, when I bought it I paid ATS 6000,-- (approx. 436 Euro) for the package (Dish + 2 LNB + stand + Digital receiver with 2 CI slots).
Additionaly I bought a module for 108 Euro and I paid the subscription fee for ARY Digital, which used to be 220 Euro for a year. Now they have increased that to 270 Euro for a year (or 500 Euro for 2 years).
Thanks Umer, so this means that the digital reciver would be provided by Purewal the satellite dish by me.
What is a Module ?
Is this the only paki/indian channel that we recieve with this subscription?
Can you please PM purewal's phone number to me, if possible.
Saadia, previously they gave you those 2 options:
1.) Receiver (without module requirement) and smartcard will be provided by Purewal: 300 Euro/year
2.) You have your own receiver and your own module and Purewal just provides you with the smartcard: 220 Euro/year
As I had a receiver already I went for option 2.
Now they have changed it to 270 Euro/year. I dont know if they still have that option where they give you the receiver. I PMed you Purewals number, so you can just call him and ask if they still provide a receiver with the subsription.

Maybe ARY is part of the new Dish Network international channel expansion pack!!! Go Charlie!!!
They are busy with all sorts of new stuff..anyway ARY is one damn good channel!
