Any weird, awkward, funny or plain bizarre moments you have encountered

whilst visiting pakistan. (for those who were born and bred or moved abroad at a young age).

I’ll start,

I don’t know if it was the village or just happens generally but they thought that i being a foreign brought up and bred girl would have no grasp of Urdu and Punjabi whatsoever. So i played along. They started talking generally but then conversation turned towards me and my siblings. 'oh they must be eating and doing haraam. i bet theyve got girlfriends/boyfriends etc etc… poor children, dont even know urdu/punjabi… LOL.

When my mum came and spoke to me in punjabi i replied back in fluent punjabi. then turned to the women and told them that neither do we eat or do haraam etc and as for speaking urdu and punjabi, well do you have your answer. oh and if you need any other information about us confused foreign souls, feel free to ask me whenever. LOL

safe to say they were ashamed. shouldve checked if we knew the language before b****ing about us. :cb:

I fought and fought with a shop wala over a dress when he said in urdu dress was worth Rs 1,145 , I thought “pintali” meant 75 and started fighting him off , told him I will only give “aik hazaar and aik soo and pichas” .. I said it pretty aggressively and looked at him waiting for him to give me the discount .

He instead said , madam if you like to pay more , koi baat nai aaph ziaada paisay dai do !

I got confused again and told him , I didnt like the fact that he kept asking me for more money and tried leaving the shop . He called me back and said madam aaph confuse ho re ho , then he told me tapping on the calc , mai itne maang ra hoo , aaph itnay ke re ho , you decide how much you wanna pay ..

realizing my mistake , I then told him ok , lets start again , "aik hazaar and aik soo ka dena hai to do " he just laughed and said ok ! and packed it up for me !

This was embarrassing and funny at the same time . happened years ago , I am a pro at numbers now

My boss has this habit of asking names of CFOs, Managing Directors, Country Managers, etc of clients we deal. Once he was reviewing certain papers and all of sudden he asked who is the CFO of the xyz company (I was dealing with the sister concern of that company, which had recently merged with xyz). I couldn’t remember the name of CFO, but I replied , I can’t remember the name, but he is a relative to Mr A (Mr A, being a Partner in our firm). My boss saw me with anger and said ‘wo Mr A ke baap ka beta hai’ :sid:

30 rupay pe bargaining??

when pakis go abroad, they multiply pounds to calculate rupees…but when westies come to pak…they don’t divide the ruppes…yeh kya chakkar hai??
