My 1 year old niece recently came back from Pakistan where she spent a few months and according to her parents she was never put in a car seat the whole time she was there. Of course, now she is having a hard time sitting in a car seat when we are driving. Initially when we put her in she’s alright, but after a while she becomes really agitated and it gets to the point where we have to take her out of it.
How do you get kids used to the car seat?

^ lol believe me that does not work
Re: Any tips for getting kids accoustomed sitting in a car seat
don’t take her out of the car seat. you’re just sending a message that if she fusses enough, she gets out. someone should sit in the back with her and read to her, play with her, maybe put on a cd of her favourite songs to distract her.
whether she likes it or not, living in the west means being safe about having kids in a car. and i know in canada there is a $110 fine + 2 demerit points for not having a child under 8 in either an infant seat, a car seat, or a booster seat. scarier than that, though, are the crash statistics:
“Nothing kills more Canadian children and teens than traffic accidents, according to the Canadian Hospitals Injury Reporting and Prevention Program. According to Transport Canada, 10,000 children under the age of 12 are injured in traffic accidents every year. A child who wasn’t restrained and was in a car that crashed while travelling at 50 kilometres per hour would fare as badly as a child dropped from a third-storey window. Holding your child in your lap is no protection either. In a crash at just 40 km/h, it takes only one-tenth of a second for you and the baby to hit the dashboard.
Crash tests have demonstrated that it’s impossible to hang on to a crash-test dummy baby no matter how tightly you’re holding it — even if you’re wearing a lap/shoulder belt.
Putting that kid in a car seat reduces the chances of injury or death by as much as 75 per cent — as long as that car seat is installed correctly.”

neither one of you has a choice in the matter- she has to stay in it and get used to it. my friend also always has a little container of cheerios on hand for her son. he eats them as she drives and it keeps him calm and occupied.

you cant... just have to leave them in there like sgc said..
my son was ok with his car seat as a newborn.. but once he hit the 2 month mark and to this day.. he HATES his car seat.. he hates the fact taht he has to buckled down... he cries bloody murder and pretty much keeps crying until we reach our destination.. so we have kissed long distance driving goodbye... he will stop crying to catch his breath.. either he wil lfall asleep crying or just resume crying once he has regained his energy.. we bought so many accessories to put around his car seat but nopes.. some kids just dont like to buckled in.....
eediots.
You can’t ake them out of car seat, my son used to cry a lot so one my friend suggest buy a good quality if sound proof headphones thats all you cna do.![]()

Re: Any tips for getting kids accoustomed sitting in a car seat
thats true . either turn on the music really loud.. or put in earplugs.. i do the latter cuz i cant ask a 7 month old to stop crying.
Re: Any tips for getting kids accoustomed sitting in a car seat
^ doesn't that interfere with your driving? i mean, shouldn't you be able to hear traffic noises around you?
Re: Any tips for getting kids accoustomed sitting in a car seat
