Whenever I go to the movie theater to watch a Bollywood movie, there are several movie posters plastered. Just judging by the posters A typical Bollywood hero will be clean shaven, stylish hair, stylish clothes, and generally be going for a model look. Compare that to actors on South Indian movie posters, they will have big mustaches, clothes from the 80’s, hair all over and going for the 1970’s look.

Any reason for that?
Moustache is considered as a symbol of being macho.
Re: Any reason why the South Indian male actors have such big mustaches?
Moustaches represent power and superiority in South Indian culture. We have some family friends from South India... the guy had a moustache for the longest time, he took it off a few years ago as he was in sales and someone recommended people would relate to him better without it...I remember his wife having a fit over his removing it.
