I’m thinking of getting a RAZR. However, I’ve heard people say it’s not all that great and that there’s just hype about how sleek it is, otherwise it’s nothing special.
I currently use Nokia 6620. It’s a great phone, but I just want a change. My budget’s about $100-$200 (CAD) max.
What have your experiences been with RAZR? Any other phones that I could be recommended within the budget I’ve stated above?
it just got slim shape nuttin esle specail, 100-200?? if u buyin with new line then u kan get good phone, m currently usin Samsung t809 aka D820. itz nice phone or try snoy ericsson they got good phones
I basically use my cell for calling, text messaging, and perhaps using the notepad when away from my PC.
JaanLeva, t809 looks great. I've been wanting to purchase D600, but it'll cost me well over $400, so I changed my mind. How much did you get yours for?
aah..another 6820 user looking for a change :D. i'm looking into the slvr l7. been waiting for the nokia n80 i'm a nokia fan..but its not even out yet..and will be at least 700 when it comes out :D. so slvr l7 it is i think.
if u r not looking for itunes and special stuff..and can live with a lesser resolution screen..the l6 is good too for about $80 less. personally not a motorola fan..but its worth a shot.
RAZR looks pretty sleek, and thats where its benefits end as well. Motorola's user-interface (UI) sucks. The biggest problem, for me, is that if you have three numbers for one person (Home, Work, Cell etc), Motorola shows them as three different line items in your contact list, rather than one line for the person, and then three numbers underneath (this results in bloated contact list). Other than that, there are quality issues with RAZR. In the US, Cingular has stopped selling GSM RAZR till Moto fixes the call-disconnect bug (it was in the news, so you can Google it). A friend of mine has RAZR, and after 2 omnths of use, the key '4' has stopped working. And this is his replacement unit, when the first unit developed a buzzing sound defect. He is now planning to switch to Cingular 2125 (its a Windows Mobile brick-style smartphone without a QWERTY keypad). I don't have a Motorola, but my wife has (V551). Other than the UI issues mentioned above, its an ok phone.
I dont mind the razor..just that with FIDO the signal sucks! I noticed the best signal with rogers or fido are SONY ERICSON phones! soo i switched over from razr and now i got 3 razr phones laying around that i wanna sell, maybe someone can put em on ebay for me and make commission.
I think Faisal bhai's detailed review has made me change my mind (for now at least). I suppose I'll wait for a decent looking Nokia whenever it comes out.
Sadiyah, I currently have a black razr (Cingular)--and have had it for about 6 months. The phone is beautiful to look at, and because of it's slim size it can fit in your pocket, purse, backback, etc without much hassle. I love the design of the phone, but I am having some problems with a buzzing noise during phone calls. I'm not sure if it started because I happened to drop my phone twice on hard wood floors or if it is a defect in the phone. The phone gets better reception than my old Motorola V400 and older Nokia models, and the battery life is about average. I can go without charging my phone for two days if I don't use it for long conversations (i.e. 3-4 hours plus of continuous talk time). The issue of having multiple line items for the same contact is an issue with any motorola phone, and not just the Razr. Texting is ok, but because of the slim interface, you may be slowed down because the keys are harder to depress. Also, the screen catches oil from your face, so you will have to keep wiping it to keep it clean. It does have a large screen though, so you won't have any problems seeing!
Overall, I love the phone for its sleek design. It's fun to use for phone calls and to carry around, and for all of the options its a good buy for simple cell phone use. (Especially now that the prices are dropping!).
I have had a blk razr for 6 months now. prior to that I have gone thru treo, blackberry, sony, nokia and panasonic. I think this is a good phone, easy to carry, it does not have games and stuff, but then I dont have either the time or the patience to play games on a cellphone so it works very well for me.
So some of you have had problems with buzzing and a few other features. I don't play games on cell phones, so that's not a problem.
The only thing that is sort of holding me back from deciding is the fact that many have stated that you can't have multiple numbers under one name, as you can only store one number per ID.
