I don’t understand this and I know that there will be not much responce to this post either ..
wanna know what I don’t understand and why there will be not much of reponce here as I know that
God has gifted Pakistan with such beautiful sceneries and greenery and lush green valleys , but why on earth there aren’t any artists!!!
IS there any one else on this site who is an artist???
I am a Con artist..as evidenced by the name :)
I am an artist but not of the painting variety. I do drums and percussion, and sing. lesser and lesser recently but none the less.
Please forgive me of my ignorence but can you tell me what is a con artist???
I have a bit of idea but not really cleared of what it is ...??????????????????
Ther are exteremes in our society in Pakistan, either we have not enough to feed upon and hence there is no Artistic tendency or otherwise we have too much to eat and hence no Artistic tendency.
But there are few artists in Pakistan which are know little outside Pakistan.
Unfortunately, these artists (of all kinds) will only get their due appreciation when or if someone else outside of Pakistan recognizes their talent and potential. Remember the great maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan??? he became well known only after his music was exposed to the Western world. In Pakistan, an accomplished artist is a nobody..till someone else (preferably a 'gora') starts to recognize and appreciate the talent. Our complexes keep us from appreciating our own cutural heritage...what a shame!!!

I mean I am an Artist I paint Portraits and landscapes ..waghera..
I came to Dubai after my Degree , I know nearly whole of the comunity of Pakistan's artists 'cause we are very few and we try to survive by ourselves ..!!
In Pakistan we would get togather , all the artist comunity , Senoir cum Junior Artists , thinking How to promote Art..!!
Oh well the result always was our own past time , with a nice tea after sessions and that was it!!!
And I don't think that I found any positive results of that ..!
and about realisation of Art through Goras....well it is really really true...
all the known names became known 'cause they were able to get out of the galleries within the country and out into some Gora comunity......even if there paintings are luckily sold out in few Dollars....he has a medal that he sold to a Gora , and Voila he is rich!
So ...what me and new artists like me are trying is to hold a few exhibitions outside Pakistan ...
Reason I guess is that there are very few in Pakistan who understand art..
Not our fault either..!

Aap ne kaha ke Pakistan main koi art ko nahin samajhta - Main Pakistan main itna rahi to nahin lekin jab bhi gai, mujhe local logon ki paintings bohot achee lagee. 'Classical paintings' khoobsoorat hotee hain magar teree meree lines nahin.
I think Pakistan main rehne waloon ka aik masla hai - 'do waqt ki roti', jab logon ki yeh zaroorat poori ho jai gi to phir doosaree zaroori baatoon ki baree aai gee. Art 'gairzarooi cheez' hai, compared to other problems pakistanees are facing today. Waqt ane deejiye art par bhi tawajo dee jai ge. Hosla rakain, sona tap ke hee qundan banta hai.
btw aap internet par apna art kion nahin introduce karwateen ?

Masha Allah Pakistani people have a good aesthetic sence but people who do are very scarce to be found...
Pakistan main Majority logon ki aisee hai jo "realism " ko hee sirf aart mantay hain...
main nay jab painting shuroo kee to ..I was inclined more towards impressionism...
laikin baad may main nay observe kiya kay jitnee realistic painting banao , jis ko agla banda dekhe to lagey key yeah darwaza khul jaye ga ya phir yeah aslee banda baitha hai , sirf us painting par he wah wah hotee hai , kiyon?....kiyon kay , there are not many who understand art....
For me art is showing others what Your perception of things is , not at all to imitate what God has created ..
For me "Realism is death of Art "....

baat phir woh hee aa ja tee hai ..pakistan main woh artist hit hai jo Realistically paint kar sakta hay , mairay khiyal main phir artist or Movie posters' paint karnay walay main faraq nahin rah jaata ...
I want people to see through my eye I don't want to imitate stuff ...

Or han internet par main eik site develop kar rahi hon , apni or bohat say doosray pakistani artists ko place karoon gee....
internet par sirf modeling miltee hai search result main Pakistan/Arts!!!!

I edited your last comment because it did not belong here in this discussion and I dont want to see arguments started in other sections make there way here for no rhyme or reason.
I think we do have some good artists but they are not very well known. Art isn't exactly on the top of the priority list back home for most people. Among the living, I think that Jameel Naqsh and Iqbal Hussein are fairly good. I saw some stuff by Iqbal Hussein and although I am far from being an accomplished art critic, I thought that it was absolutely first rate

I'm an artist.. I love painting and drawing, although I'd never consider artistry as a profession, and neither would many other Pakistanis.. and I'll tell you why..
Unfortunately the arts are not valued by people as a field of work. It's all about the Benjamins baby.. ($$$). If I even wanted to be an artist, my parents would shoot me.. the closest one can get into the arts with the permission of Ami and Abu is in graphic arts.. atleast this way you are attached to a computer. With the Pakistani parents only wanting their betas and betis to be Doctors and Engineers, I'm suprised we even have as much art as we do.
