Any one topic which consumes...

people you know or yourself.
for instance, with me, i feel that environment is degrading very fast and we humans have the sole blame to take for it.

share yours and see what solutions you can come up for that issue which concerns you deeply.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

You have an interesting question here Dushwari. A question that I quite often ask myself is: Is religion (Islam) a solution to it all? My answer to this is yes provided it is followed in every single aspect and with every single detail. But I would like to have your thoughts on this.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

of course, either i please myself or i please Allah swt. & as my friend who is a convert said that, i began to see the distinction between imaan and laimaan.

religion is a discipline. it does not allow for justifications. i t allows for submission only. and the kind that is not brought on per force, but what is assumed and the body immerses in, with full faith. and total disregard of fulfilling the temptations.
that level of affinity with faith is a dream. and it can be possible too.
at the right time. which has to begin soon.
and when it does, Allah swt helps through.

Dushwari

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

From what I believe, it required justification to the people who came b4 Quran came down and after that book has sent down upon us - submission is easy in a way that all the answers have been given in the Quran.
correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

every rule, religious or not, requires justification. Otherwise, it is merely a rant. "Submitting" to anything is foolishness, and without justification, it is even more so! That's why religion is such a great evil!

So, what solution does Islam have for, say Fermat's conjecture?:)

Your answer is merely wishful thinking. The only advantage I can see in strictly following a religion is power- absolute control of the ruler/dictator over one's mind and actions. Such a highly religious society will probably never face a rebellion- but it absolutely destroys one's creative ability. Religious submission is merely submission of your conscience to a person/ book supposedly written/given by all-powerful supermen. Such a highly religious society will never progress from dark ages, and eventually be destroyed. "Islam has all the answers" and those sort of things usually comes from someone who is either not interested in finding the answers, or CAN't find the answers, or those who have seen the truth, but are unwilling/not courageous enough to question the beliefs they have believed in, and in a sense depend on, sense childhood( a case of cognitive dissonance)

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

Yeah submission is easy, no need to think, no need of guts, no need of finding what's right and wrong, no need of anything but what is required to be a human drone- DON"T QUESTION! JUST DO WHAT I SAY!

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

religion practiced correctly is not evil.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

Loved your post and I wish to add that people submit to their 'perception' of what is said in Quran. These people include imams of mosques and those with inability to research and get the 'deeper' meaning. Majority of people prefer to 'submit' because it saves them time and hassle to ponder over the actual meanings of the teaching. When they submit to their perception oas per their mental capability and understanding of the finest teachings, it is bound to create a wrong image. Image of dark ages.

So instead of calling the teachings / religion 'evil', we need to fix the perceptions of people with premitive mentality.

Unfortunately, discouragement of people who question, who ponder and discouraging healthy research and the primitive "DON"T QUESTION! JUST FOLLOW!" mentality has done much wrong than any good. And this mentality is spread by those who are incapable of explaining the logic behind a particular teaching. That's unfortunate because it only generates much more ignorance and lesser religious knowledge. That's what takes the followers back to dark ages.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

Agree with that.

But he percentage of people practicing religion correctly is unfortunately smaller than we imagine.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

As for the thread's topic, cruelty with animals is what consumes much of my time these days. Why cant epopel think that they can scream or talk to express their pain, what can an animal inflicted with pain express? Im talking about the unnatural cruelty to them.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

absolutely right - cruelty to animals is a sin.

and if it is done for seeking that obnoxious pleasure, it is a very in human. i am sure Allah swt will punish such people for what they do to animals.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

Religion is Evil? How can religion be evil? Can you please answer?

Evil is our mind, evil is our thinking...won't you admit that you had evil thoughts once, twice? What does God preach? What does Islam mean?

Find peace on your knees in front of me! I created mankind and jinn to serve me

What does that mean?

Pray 5 times? Recite the Qur'an daily? pay Zakat on time?

No! God is asking for good deeds, care for the neighbours, care for the old, care for the poor, care for the disadvantaged person etc.

A Atheist, do you want to tell me he doesn't have evil thoughts?

Peace, this air of freedom is so nice to breath and the pain of war so hard to swallow! Politicians say we fight for Peace!!! Is Peace so hard to establish? I don't think so, why is war so easy to start? It is the evil in us who is looking only for his own advantage and sells his beliefs for the materialism!

Without wars the Weapons Factories for example would not exist! We are evil, killing each other for money and power! And money is the greatest evil!

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

No major religion in this world is 'evil' by itself.
People add things to make it look like its evil.
These people are who say or claim they know religion better than others.
Those who follow these ignorant or even evil minded people without seeking the answer themselves make religion look bad.

Islam promotes and encourages inquisitive mind. There are more verses in it on asking people to think than pray or give zakat. Asking question is one of the fundamental right of human being. Islam/Allah does not need robots otherwise angels were enough for prayer.

Those who claim they know Islam unfortunately include atheists who never read about Islam themselves. But how can we blame them when even muslims do not read about it.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

"Hamare yahan jo kuch nahi ban paatay woh molvi ban jaatay hein. I heard someone saying this on TV. Thought that was very interesting!

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

^ Not true entirely.

Many people choose to be maulvi from the beginning.

Its not like someone did not get in to medical or engineering or commerce college, university of whatever entry and decided.......OK I will go to a
Madar-Sa and be a maulvi for the rest of my life!!!

Whoever said that must have had 'Taaliaan' or claps but far from reality.

I think and in my humble opinion, majority of moulvis and mullahs are good and very sincere.

Few bad apples are there and making the name of Islam look bad or giving oppurtunity to NOT-SO-WELL-WISHERS-OF-ISLAM-OR-MUSLIMS...... ammunition to talk bad about Islam.

...............Please go and search the word Notsowellwishersofislamandmuslims in any search engine........:)

Give me the credit of coining this term,.... if not found....Kidding.

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

Mods..it seems like the discussion has gone out of the bound of original topic.

Second post...meaning from the very beginning the discussion got in to religion.

Even thread starter got in to religion without knowing...............I think.

Atheist jumped into this clear water and ripple got bigger........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

deedawar, you chose to speak on religion in a constructive or opinionated way, so dont feel that you did not get your chance to make your statement and share it with the rest.

Re: Any one topic which consumes…

very interesting discussion going on here. Do continue :k:

coming back to the original post, the thing/question that I contemplate a lot about nowadays is ‘are we (as individual) to blame of being in this world and hence for the the mistakes we make?’

Basically it boils down to this: if someone asks ‘why are we in this world?’ The answer would be ‘God wanted to test us; this whole life is a test.’ But I never asked to be put into this test, nor was it my desire. So the question is if I have been put into a test I never asked for, can I be held accountable if I fail the test? It would be the same as putting a random person into a maths test and expecting that person to pass the test? Or putting someone in the middle of a jungle, give him a compass and tell him to escape? Of course the possibility exists that that person will escape safely, but what about the persons who do not / cannot escape? Is it their fault that they were put into the jungle at the first place?

Re: Any one topic which consumes...

NeSCio, very nice analysis and anologies. abstract always helps in understanding the real and human condition.
the issue is not the advent of someone being placed some where. but placed why, is the issue.
some higher power, in the case of Adam and Eve, placed them on earth.
now it is for the decedents of Adams and Eve to do their part to redeem themselves, no?
