I have Charade of 84 model. It was in really well condition but ever since i have hand it over to a mechanic for just fixing its break, i have been just taking it in and out of mechanic garage.
I really love this car of mine never had any big problem before but now have nothing but problems. Wanna know if anyone knows of good mechanics in karachi.
I have tried more than 3-4 mechanics, all they do is fix one thing and destroy the other. Please do let me know. O and this is my life first dream car, i really dont want to sale it out

I have tried mechanics in korangi and in gulshan, had very very bad experience with those guys. And have seen work of mechanics in my own area, all i can say these people have no sense of honesty, once you make mistake of getting service by them once you kind of end up working on the entire car and still at the end you dont get good result

I kind of heard this from my friends that star gate is best place for service of old cars, you better check that out

Hmmm right i just forgot about that place
well korangi side is kind of lower, but i am kind of tired trying so many mechanics from the lower places, it cost me a lot and problems just worsen
well in start there was oil leakage, went to fix that up and had little problems with breaks not working well, so thought it will be better if that be fixed as well. after that i ended up with even getting new clutch plates, overall engine work and at end now i am having problems with tires getting jammed even at low speed, yesterday had back tires issues and today one of the front tire and i just survived from a big accident.
My car never had these issues, since the day that mechanic worked on my car, i have ongoing problems. He even screwed up letting few nuts loose for me to come back again and he be able to earn more from me, i went to other mechanic and he told me to start all over fixing other stuff, this is not the first time i had a car and its obvious they all are just trying to make money without solving problem completely. they keep some loose end so the customer keep on returning and they make more and more.

The thing is when keeping an old car you have to know the basics of how a car work, the mechanical stuff and all. This does prevent the ripping off to some extent. Charades are basically tough cars to maintain, because of there being not enough spare parts for it in the market. Try getting it off your hands and buy a Mehran. Mehran isn't a better car, but it's still in production, 20 years after it was launched, so you can always get a spare part and every mechanic knows how to work on it.

A big issue with cars this old is the mutual life of individual parts. Whenever one component goes bad, its usually better to get the entire component serviced, or changed. In Pakistan, I have routinely seen mechanics say that your front left brake pad/shock is worn, so all you need to do is get that replaced. Or your rear left tyre is worn out, so just get a new/used one to replace that. Such uneven fix results in further issues, like jammed wheels, etc.
Just take it to a reputable place, and get genuine parts installed. Will cost more, but will work in the long run.

I do agree with you, but my car is in good condition, it always have been in good condition, its just this time the mechnic from whom we have been taking work for long time messed up with this car intentionally. I think he got all the amount of his Qurbani sheep out of my pocket

well this time i went to starGate, found a good mechanic and now car is working well. It really dint had much big issues but other mechanices were making big issues
