I have been accepted at NUST for Electrical (telecommunications) engineering, but I’m not too hyped up about it as it was not my first choice. So, what I wanted to ask is that could I transfer to any other discipline like Computer Hardware, Avionics etc after a year? Is the Telecom program good enough to suffer through for 4 years?

well i done my engineering from uet in electrical n now a days m doing phd in electrical power, n i can fairly understand ur concern abt telecommunication, and yeah u r right telecommunication industry is pretty saturated and its v hard to find a job, i suggest u to do some pure engineering, like electrical, mechanical, civil or computers that will give u more options in finding a job, plus if u want to continue studying and want to do masters, u will still have plenty of options to choose from.

if u do electrical engineering then u can do .... controls, power, protection, automation, communication, renewable energy, nuclear energy, biomedical just to name few, i done masters in power n m doing phd in transformers.

Ya i m nustian .. i hav done my computer engineering from EME , Telecom from Signals was awesume in ourtimes mgt b havin the maximum merit , dont knw rgt now wher ths discipline stand , but u can giv it a try n work hard for a beter future .
