I have heard unconfirmed reports that PPP candidates are getting beaten by Independents.

OK. The news is confirmed now. Results are posted on the Pakistan Election Commission website. In 2 provincial constituencies in South Punjab PPP candidates have been defeated by independents. One of the losing candidates was the Foreign Minister's brother.

actually, the results are not surprising, If you check previous results from the same constituencies.
overall turn out was really low, with exception of few constituencies in Punjab, where it reached in 40s. In one particular constituency it was around 11%!
one independent candidate secured 99% of casted votes, which itself is a record.
Please dont mistake the MQM for the PML[N], or were you referring to the feb elections

In the national assembly, PML[N] got 3 seats, PPP got 2, and the Lahore election was postponed, thats also another PML[N] seat for sure… Nothing for the lota league. The biggest upset was the seat that a PPP candidate withdrew, and the independent won
