David Rice Atchison is probably the fellow in question, he was in office for only one day and that too as a strict observance of the constitutional law as he was the president pro-tem of the Senate, he took over when there was a lapse between the leaving and the incoming president in 1849...
okay i'm not naturally brilliant and didnt remember the whole thing and had to look it up but I remembered the last name from like 4th grade about the president that was in office for one day because our teacher(ms atchinson) was related to him somehow...anyways, hope it helps and hope you get a 100!!!
