I bought this acoustic guitar at a really good price (it was originally $100 and I got it for $30 because the shop was closing). It’s a piece of crap. I’ve tried tuning it with a digital tuner and from a site w/ audio clips of each of the chords, until I eventually got a friend to try to tune it for me, which is when he told me that the guitar basically just sucks.
So, I’m trying to sell the guitar for atleast $30. I know a few idiot desi bachay that I could probably coax into running to their mummies and daddys to give them $30 to buy the guitar. I’ll tell them it’s a great guitar and it’s brand new too. Whatever. I just want my freaking $30 back.
Anyways, so now I need to buy a new acoustic guitar and a friend suggested that I buy a starter pack which is basically a guitar plus the bag and a strap and picks and an extra set of strings. At the local guitar shop, they have Yamaha and Fender acoustic guitar packs for about $220 plus 2 free lessons (the lessons are really like $40 per hour - ridiculous. I plan on taking lessons at this other place I found not too far from my house). So I think I’ll buy it from there, but I don’t know which one to get. Yamaha or Fender? I’m leaning towards a Yamaha but I think that’s only because I like the name better. =]
^ the song pheobe sings in Friends? :D haha no thanks pal.
Aliyish - Hmm I don't think they have seagull at the shop. I've never even heard of that brand. My brother had an electric guitar that was Yamaha and it was pretty nice. I wish I could get an acoustic electric those are really nice but they're also like $700 lol.
Ok i have Yamaha. Its a nice guitar. But make sure that guitar should be made of solid wood and not of any light thingy. 100$ guitars are just so light and doesn't sound good either. Buy an electronic tuner with it and also some extra guitar picks. Don't go for any fancy pick, buy one that is big enough for fit in u'r hand.
The best book to follow is Hal Lenonard Guitar Method Complete Edition. It has has 3 CDs with it too. Find a good enough teacher who can help you through this book and get u started. Youtube also helps some time. But don't think that u'll start playing songs in a day. It will take some time and a lot of patience.
Practice Practice Practice. This is the only way to learn the guitar.
Dont know what kind of music you want to play, but if you just want to start, you can go with a guitar with nylon strings instead of metal ones
Nylon strings are not only easy on beginers finger (when you press a chord) but also the tension on the neck of the guitar is not so much as oppose to metal strings .. so you can go with a less expensive guitar without having a fear of bending or cracking its neck when tightening the strings
TLK - I'm sure the sound is probably compromised with nylon strings. I think I'll just keep it simple and start with metal strings so I won't have trouble adjusting to new strings later on, plus I won't have to switch guitars.
Namaan - The guitar pack comes with a digital tuner. I tried using one with the guitar I had previously and it was so confusing I had no idea if I was using it properly lol. But I guess it will come with instructions in the pack. Thanks for the advice btw.
