Sigh.
Mr. Darcy.
You TOO, Mistral?
I'd wanna marry a Mr. Darcy!

Mmmmhmmm.............and you know who makes the BEST Mr. Darcy? Collin Firth......in the traditional Pride and Prejudice......and its modern version, Bridget Jones' Diary!
uff. i knew you were thinking that. the bbc adaptation was quite far removed from the books. mr.darcy was a ponce in the novel.
Re: Any Edward Cullens out there?
Oh RV...the shorter list would be who DOESN'T want to marry Mr. Darcy at one point in time or the other.
Though I did feel like decking him after his shock over Lizzy's refusal to marry him after he basically insults her and everyone she loves. Jerk.
But still...
Mr. Darcy.
Sigh.
so real men don’t even come close? ![]()

What's a ponce? Haven't read the book though........I've thought about checking it out.
BBC adaptation? The one with Firth and Jennifer Ehle......the mini TV series, right?
Mr. Darcy is the epitome of all MEN!! lol I won't give up hope on him ;) He is out there somewhere waiting for me haha!!
LOL!

He was a jerk.......but he redeemed himself. Hmmm......is that among the qualities that sets him apart from real-life guys? LOL!
Re: Any Edward Cullens out there?
Yeah stoppit is right. Darcy is kind of a ponce (a jerk, basically) in the book. But he makes up for it in the end.
Most of us get starry eyed due to the A&E adaptation with the fabulous Mr. Firth.

I can't picture anyone else as Darcy. Hmm.....maybe Johnny Depp. I have a crush on him as well. He tends to play quirky roles....but I think he could pull it off.

yeh. lol, my whole family (my dad most of all) used to wait all week for it when it first aired a long, loooong time ago.
austen's adaptations make for good t.v.
hate the novels though, the characters are 'insufferable' ;)

P& P is the novel I enjoyed best. Darcy and Lizzie make up for the insufferable Mrs. Bennet........oh she can be so mind-numbingly ridiculous. Some aunties....can pull a Mrs. Bennet from time to time. And let's not forget Lydia and Mr. Collins.....obnoxious to say the least. Although the guy who played Collins did a FABULOUS job in the mini series. He was patronizing.....and CREEPY!
Sense and Sensiblity....I like this one next. Still not as great as P n P...but pretty good.
Northanger Abbey....I wanted to slap the heroine. She was so naive.
Thinking of reading Persuasion next.
^Speaking of characters I'd like to slap, I nominate Kathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. What a bunch of idiots!
Re: Any Edward Cullens out there?
there are plenty of such men. but are you a gisele bundchen? if not, don't bother.

Ditto! That book really put a damper on my spirits. I've heard that Crime and Punishment can do that you as well, although I never got around to read it.
Yes, Heathcliff and Kathy should both be slapped. Perhaps Kathy more so than Cliff. If she had only decided differently, he wouldn't have become this morbid creature in the end. Let's not forget Kathy's brother. He can use a few chamaats as well.

I'm confused, I thought you hadn't read P&P?
Emma was highly annoying! The adaptations have been pretty good though.
I'm really not a fan of Jane Austen though.

she looks like a giraffe.
it's all about doutzen kroes.

:O
I loved them. All that anger and passion. Drove them crazies it did.

Uff! She thought he betrayed her so she did the same. That's what real life is all about!!
Not this "fans heaving bosoms swoons" lark.
I got Crime and Punishment in my bag for commute reading, starting tomorrow.
she looks like a giraffe.
sacrilege, shorty!
Re: Any Edward Cullens out there?
Stoppit, I read the book first......then watched the movies.
Emma...That's what her name was? If I can't remember her name......goes to show how much I wasn't a fan of that book.
Re: Any Edward Cullens out there?
^no no, that's another of her novels; "Emma".
