Re: Any DSLR
Why are you looking to spend so much on a camera? You don't need to spend that much, even for professionals a nikon d40 works. They try to sell you on megapixels but 6 megapixels works as long as you're not trying to print anything from it larger than an 11x17.
We have a photography studio set up in our basement for fashion and beauty photography (the real kind, not a glamour studio), and we use the d40. The only thing it doesn't have is image stabilization, which you don't need unless your hands are shaky or if you hate using a tripod.
Spend that extra money on better things.. like charities!
Re: Any DSLR
And yes, stay away from sony. My personal opinion is to go for nikon if you're looking for sharpness, or canon if you're looking for shutter speed.
The lens is more important than the body. You can get a decent small body (nikon d40 or nikon d60), get good lenses and you can take some amazing shots.
Re: Any DSLR
what do u say abt super zoom cameras . . .??????
New sonly Alpha line isn't as bad. It has super HI ISO (6400?), meaning which allows taking pictures in extremely low lighting (although pictures will not be good enough to be used as professional pictures).
Anyway, why are you getting a DSLR? To Learn? To take pix at events? To take pix at landscape? or All of the reasons?
Camera Body is one of the most UNIMPORTANT things when taking a picture! Photographer and the lens matters the most.
I am guessing you are buying them new and buying/selling items is not your cup of tea. In that case, stick with Nikon or Canon.
They have excellent line of lenses, plus 3rd party lenses .... as well as excellent cameras.
I am personally biased towards Canon but Nikons are equally nice camera. If you get a chance try NOT to get the stock lens from Nikon and Canon. Also super zoom (tele) lens are not as useful either, because you can always crop the picture the way you want.
So in short, Get Nikon or Canon entry level DSLR (which means XSi, Xs, Xti for canon). Depending on your budget of lens, try to get an "all-in-one" type of lens. Once you know an estimate budget and which company you are going for - I can recommend the lens for you
