So are there really any different Indian movies out there? I’m looking to rent something on DVD or whatever. I picked up Swades and Asoka. (yeah, I haven’t seen much of an Indian movie for the past 4-6 years or so…)
I tried searching for some good indian site that gives a plot blurb…but yeah, they all say the same thing…
Hero falls in love with heroine, and the two must escape all obstacles just so that they can get married.
I’m tired of these BS plots - most Indian movies are done in this way in one form or another.
I’d like to see Nazar, and Taj Mahal, mainly because the female leads are Pakistani. jhanda icon
Actually I just wanna know if those girls can act.
Erm, any other suggestions?
Oh and please, no rohnay dohnay walay movies. I hate men enough as it is - don’t refer me to something that talks about female abuse cuz its just going to piss me off even more.
Try Bollywood's English language attempts - they are always better than regional language fare.
1. Split Wide Open
2. Everybody Says I'm Fine
3. The Terrorist (not as well made as the previous two but a good feature on Sri Lanka by an Indian)
If you want older films, there is Siddharta, but it is slow and could be difficult to watch if you do not like art movies.
Best wishes and good viewing - do let us know what you think about these films.
Main madhuri dixit bunee chatee hoon
Zubeida---strong lead herione different kind of story...
Chandni bar---really sad and depressing but "real"
I've heard very good things about Mr and mrs. iyer
I am proud to say i have watched very few bollywood movies since amber akbar aaanthony, sholay and agnipath as a lad, but must say i enjoyed pinjar, mr and mrs iyer and shakhti (fulfills my karishma and nana patika fetishes in one movie).
