half of my ancestors are from baltistan(skardu) and half from kashmir, ladakh area…i spoke to a few ppl and realized that not many ppl know about baltistan or balti ppl. Its like in the north of pakistan…a place i have only visited once when i was a kid…just wondering if there are any baltis on gupshup…
Re: any baltis in da house?
I cant wait to visist baltistan, its so beautiful. Just wondering though, how do you and your family feel about the kashmir issue and are the baltis wanting to stay with pak, india, or have independence. sorry if im getting off topic but i dont know any pakistanis from the northern areas and im very interested in their opinions on the current state of the northern areas.
Re: any baltis in da house?
well about the kashmir issue pretty much my whole family agrees that its better to let the kashmiris be independent instead of killing them everyday. As far as baltistan is considered I am not aware of any issues regarding separation from pakistan and being independent...
Yeah Baltistan is a really beautiful place and i remember a little from my trip in childhood but i do remember the people being very very hospitable and strawberry gardens.
Re: any baltis in da house?
Baltistan is an integral part of Kashmir. One day it will be a province of Kashmir ruled by Kashmiris, whether you like it or not. There are issues dude. A sufficient number of Baltis want to become a province of Greater Kashmir. And that is what will happen.

Re: any baltis in da house?
actually i dont care what happens or which region its a part of as long as nobody is killed and its beauty is preserved.....
Re: any baltis in da house?
That a boy.
the beauty will be a preserved. as for people getting killed, as long as there's no separatism, as long as everyone pledges allegiance to Kashmir, no one will get hurt.
Re: any baltis in da house?
and if they want to be part of kashmir as u said so....there shouldn't be any problem....
Re: any baltis in da house?
all it takes is a few to create a problem...
Re: any baltis in da house?
i guess we will just have to wait and see......
Re: any baltis in da house?
but don't worry... balti cultural identity will be properly protected, because balti will be the medium of instruction in the schools of baltistan.
Re: any baltis in da house?
do u have a funky tibetan name, shweet?
and kashmiri dude, baltis werent really under kashmiri rule much, they together with the ladakhis were mostly a separate tibetan kingdom.
Re: any baltis in da house?
no but i have a nice persian name that means 'happiness'.....persian because that area was influenced by muslims arriving from iran i guess....
Re: any baltis in da house?
yeah, but is your entire name persian? does your family speak any of the tibetan languages or just urdu?
Re: any baltis in da house?
oh yeah they speak balti language and i understand some of it too.
Re: any baltis in da house?
Balti will be one of the official languages of Kashmir, together with Kashmiri, Shina, Pahari and Ladakhi.
Re: any baltis in da house?
Baltistan has historically always been a part of Kashmir. It was part of the Ancient Hindu kingdom of Kashmir, and then part of the Sultanate of Kashmir. There have always been historical links between the Valley and Baltistan.
The Baltis will get a better deal with Srinagar than with Islamabad.
Re: any baltis in da house?
that's a bit outta date.
Re: any baltis in da house?
is your name Nishat? or khushee?
