Anwar Ali

Re: Anwar Ali

Last time i saw a righthander swinging-in a newball like this was A. Donald to Atherton at the wanderers ...... He bowled similar line arond 1 1/2 foot outside offstump and atherton lost his offstump .....

But for all enthusiasts here the question ...... the commentator i think it was Andy Roberts (please correct me if i'm wrong) said that his action takes huge strain on his back and without proper fitness he would ne be able to like this for long ..... now he is young and energetic but when u enter the upper class u need a body that sustain a certain amount of load

I just hope he doesn't become another Mohammad Zahid

Re: Anwar Ali

wo to theek hey but where is the link to the highlights?

Re: Anwar Ali

The commentator was Ian Bishop who made the above comments. Yes his action will need to be altered as he seems to be placing to much stress on his back.....which can cause long term back problems and affect his playing career.

Re: Anwar Ali

Yes he is good but

He will have to learn to swing the ball the other way too....All his deliveries were the same and on the international scene where the opposition is much better it will be much harder to get wickets. I'm sure he will develop other deliveries too...

That Akhtar guy was very impressive, he was bowling close to 90 mph

Re: Anwar Ali

As soon as “someone” gets out on duck or gets hit on helmet

Re: Anwar Ali

**The only thing that i was thinking after watching him in Semi final , can he do anything other than this inswing...and 2 days before the final, i wrote him off while talking to my Brother(who liked him) and i said that he doesnt have variety and i dont think he is going to do well over a period of time.....

So i would be surprise if he ends up becoming a good international bowler.........Infact i do not think that he is going to........The fianl spell was once in a life time thingi.....He should enjoy it as much as he can.....

does anybody remember Boycott's(i think) comment after Amir sohail's double hundred?...i think Anwar Ali's final performance is the same for me.**

Re: Anwar Ali

Nikema bhai ^^ I think its early to judge that whether he will make the cut after consistent performance in domestic competitions. its still a long way for him to go, I think he is 17+ or 18+ in his age and there is good 3/4 years and if he is under watch ful eye of Aquib then my guess is he will surely be knocking on the doors of selector along with Jamshed.

P.S: I am by no means a pundit but maybe its an one off performance by the bowlers but they have come good, and if I had the authority I would have scouted them to the bowling academy at Lahore, get some sessions with Waqar, Wasim and Aquib and directly send them to the MRF academy in India (considered one of the best) and let them tag along with the A' team for rich experience.

Too bad we dont have similar amount of depth in batting, I wish there were few to tick along when it comes to batting.

Re: Anwar Ali

^^ I would love to be proven wrong...infact he already did prove me wrong in final, as i told me brother that he'd Pak's weak link as indian Top Order Batsman would love t drive on slow batting Srilankan pitches and would enjoy his predictable inswinging deliveries, BUT I was proven wrong and he did perform well......

But I do think he is going to be not that mucha big prospect on international level....thats just my feeling, again i would love to be proven wrong

Re: Anwar Ali

If only he can work on his outswing (which I'm sure he will, as he is quite young), he would be a huge asset. Even Jamshed Ahmed and Akhtar Ayub looked quite talented. The future is bright Mashallah. Time for Sami to start packing his bags of pies!

Re: Anwar Ali

Menda Bhraaa, are u okay, u forgot to end ur post with ur signature.

I put my wager on “Ball tampering” with extra size loose thread on one side.
I see it coming, :smokin2:

Re: Anwar Ali

Just watched it again  still can’t get enough.

Jamshaid and Akhtar to keep any eye on along with Anwar Ali. :k: :jhanda:

Re: Anwar Ali

Anwar Ali came on the scene over ten years ago (3657 days to be precise) and everyone was super impressed except me :chai:

Ten years have gone and proved that I was right about him from day 1. :chai:

PS: It was bit nostalgic seeing some old posters in this thread. Good old times where folks on KK used to discuss the game…the fights, the arguments, the phaddey

Re: Anwar Ali

Bowiing just not tight enough for me. too loose and wayward. On top of that not penetrative enough.

He is not a test standard bowler

I would not play him in ODIs unless he improves his bowling. 10 overs from him could easily cost the team 70-100 runs

I might risk him in T20Is because of his explosive batting (however not very consistent with the bat)

I would describe him as a bits and pieces cricketer, not a genuine all-rounder in any format at present.

Potential is there but he needs to work on his bowling big time

Re: Anwar Ali

He is certainly a better bowler than cheema or bhatti. However not the quality you can totally depend on. He cannot be your starting bowler either. But he is very handy for both ODI and T20. So now it depends a lot on captain how and where to use him.
Also just remember his inning in SL when he won the match for Afridi and had almost scored the 50. We need such player when the batting lineup is so feeble and unreliable.

PS: 10 yr old thread.. just WOW!

Re: Anwar Ali

Could be because his action was modified “to save his career life”?

Re: Anwar Ali

negative

Re: Anwar Ali

The " ART of HUGE INSWING " by pakistani bowler is fading away. Those times we were having many bowlers from the street who can bowl big in swings , thanks to the teaching they got on how to " Control " the ball. Now a days you dont see that type of spells in Asian conditions.

No doubt if waqar or aqib bowl today , they also wil have big time phenti… Wasim is a different bowler though..

I beleive ANWAR ali is improtant player for NAtional side in T20 . We must not loose him as we lost Razzaq.

Re: Anwar Ali

Bilawal and Anwar are same.
Can score runs on flat pitch only but concede same or greater number of runs in bowling then. On bowling supporting pitch, can take one or two wickets but cannot score runs. Waste of time is watching them play IMO.

Re: Anwar Ali

lollz at trying to discredit past heroes by comparing them with Anwar Ali. Keerachi ka player select nae huwa to tehas nehas kar dain gy
btw, try bringing Javid miadad from past and ask him face today’s bowler and match dhoni or warner.
