Right. One can call themselves and others “phobic”, just because we have access to that vocabulary. But if one does not fulfill the diagnostic criteria, they wouldn’t have that phobia. They may be a little more scared than usual people (or more scared than the people around them. Hey, their circle can be a little crazy), but they may still not have that phobia. The responsibility lies in our tendency to use those terms lightly.
