Lahore, May 15 (ANI): Veteran Bollywood star Anupam Kher is dying to savor the culinary delights of Lahore, especially the fare available in the city’s famous “Food Street”.
In an interview to the Daily Times, he said that he was looking forward to his first trip to Pakistan.
“I am eagerly looking forward to visiting Pakistan,” said the actor, who has reportedly evinced interest in bringing and performing his autobiographical play “Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai” to Lahore.
“I am told I am well-liked in Pakistan,” he says with a laugh. Lahore is the city he is most looking forward to visiting, “because everyone says it is just like Delhi”. Given the constant influx of Indians to Pakistan, he has heard much about the Lahore Fort and the Badshahi mosque. He adds that he has heard the food in Pakistan is “brilliant” and is looking forward to tasting the local cuisine.
He said that he had wanted to do the play in Lahore much earlier, but the logistics of organizing a three-city show was too challenging.
“Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai is autobiographical. The play’s narrator is the only ‘character’ in the piece. Everyone writes books to sum up his life story but because I am an actor I thought I should perform my life-story,” Kher said.
The play has received rave reviews all over the world. This may be explained by its truly unique format. For throughout the entire performance, the narrator constantly interacts with the audience, involving them in the drama. One of Anupam’s most memorable reviewers was a 73-year-old man who, after watching the play, approached him and told him how his performance had inspired him all over again.
“It’s about how life is so unpredictable that you can never know today what will happen tomorrow,” Anupam explains.
He said that writing and performing the play was cathartic for him. “I laugh at myself throughout and invite others to laugh at me also,” he said.
Now that the play is a success, Anupam has agreed to pen his autobiography, “for those who may not be able to see me in action”. (ANI)
