It does no matter which antivirus you use, hackers develop and test virus after installing all antivirus softwares and updates on their systems

Or one’s naivety or stupidity to install malware. My sister’s laptop got screwed because she installed “java” while uninstalling it and I still receive “flash updates” whenever I use IE but we know what they actually are. I am sure that Mackeeper gave some sleepless nights at apple’s os x team.
