Antivirus

My Antivirus is going to expire in two weeks time so I need to buy a new one. I have used Kaspersky for 2 years. Suggest me the best Antivirus please?

Re: Antivirus

Use VIPRE life time subscription u may download from torrent.

Re: Antivirus

^ I have heard that is good…

Re: Antivirus

Anyone used it here? Don’t want to take risk.

Re: Antivirus

Commercially, consider Sophos. They provide one that protects you for the year, and comes with Virus Removal guarantee from them, including Home visit if they can’t do it remotely. (How I know? A friend bought it.)

Free/Cheaper alternatives: Malwarebytes (Free Edition), or MB Pro (this runs live just like any ordinary protection software.)

These are just my personal opinion based on recommendation(s) and personal use.

Re: Antivirus

Avast, AntiVIR…

Re: Antivirus

Microsoft Security Essentials . . . its free and of course a Microsoft thing .

Re: Antivirus

Isnt Sophos a mac thing?

Re: Antivirus

^ Sophos is a corporate anti virus (they have Windows, Mac and Linux clients), they dont have a consumer version, we use them in most of our work servers/computers, its one of the best anti virus available. For personal use i will recommend ESET Smart Security or ESET Anti Virus, they have the best Anti spyware/ Anti malware module. And am currently evaluating their enterprise solution for office use, i have it running on an office with around 100 client pc’s and it seems even better than Sophos.

Microsoft Security Essential is the best FREE anti virus, but if you are ready to pay a bit, then get ESET or Kaspersky.

Re: Antivirus

It does no matter which antivirus you use, hackers develop and test virus after installing all antivirus softwares and updates on their systems

Re: Antivirus

Sophos is free for personal at least on the Mac side. I am on avast on my Mac now, but Sophos is the top choice for AV recommendations.

Re: Antivirus

Or one’s naivety or stupidity to install malware. My sister’s laptop got screwed because she installed “java” while uninstalling it and I still receive “flash updates” whenever I use IE but we know what they actually are. I am sure that Mackeeper gave some sleepless nights at apple’s os x team.

Re: Antivirus

That’s pretty nice. Do you get it directly from Sophos or Mac?

Re: Antivirus

Hahaha Mac installing AV on their computers. Wait, I’ll tell this to their face whenever I am there next at the Apple store. They wouldn’t even accept that mackeeper crap and then the guy goes on that “It was a malware not a virus. Do you the definition?” which completely sidesteps the concern that mackeeper was wrecking havoc on Macs and from what people have told me, Sophos was able to block it much much earlier before Apple got its act together. I am not saying that OS X is not ‘safe’ since it is based on UNIX before people come and accuse me of anything compared to the classic buggy OS 9.
