Anti-Spyware

What are good quality anti-spyware software programs - that don’t just weed out harmful spyware, but generally block spyware from coming into your computer?

I honestly don’t mind buying a relatively inexpensive program. But if there’s a good free one out there, do tell.

Re: Anti-Spyware

  • spybot
  • Adaware
  • Hijackthis

Re: Anti-Spyware

hijackthis doesnt block them from coming in, just weed out... its a good tool though, but u have to know what ure doing with it...

Re: Anti-Spyware

I use free version of Ad Aware and Spybot S&D. Both have been very good but you have to use them and update regularly.

Re: Anti-Spyware

PCG, you're paranoid. (And I bet that's not the first time you've heard that) :]

Re: Anti-Spyware

Adaware and spybot, use them daily,

Re: Anti-Spyware

spyware are generally attracted to PC G, because of her magnetic personality, not her fault :o

Re: Anti-Spyware

ad-ware, and spybot are good. hijack this is also really good but you have to know what you are doing, otherwise you risk damaging your computer's registry.

Re: Anti-Spyware

u don't really need an antispyware these days ...
just use firefox and u should be alright...

don't pay for something that might slow down ur pc
i agree with everyone's thoughts on hijackthis ... its the only tool u need.... the other pests have to removed manually

Re: Anti-Spyware

anti-spyware could slow your computer down.
using windos plus resource kit you can fid out in computer your self, with very simple commands.

Re: Anti-Spyware

webroot spysweeper.

Re: Anti-Spyware

^ I'd go with SpySweeper as well, the enterprise version. If you get Vista it comes with Windows Defender (which is not compatible with all of the above).
