Re: Anti-Pakistanism in India
There are 2 choices in an election. People choose who they think will benefit them. Economy and development were the main issues not foreign affairs. The alternate was a corrupt government with an unknown inexperienced leader. While i’m not happy with the current party i hardly think the alternative who have been ruling for 10 years were pro-Pakistani. They all have same policies towards Pakistan. In any case both alternatives were unknowns. Manmohan Singh refused to stand for election so the alternative was Rahul Gandhi who people don’t like. It didn’t have anything to do with Pakistan. Also you don’t need a majority of people to vote in a government. I think in Pakistan there are also 2 main parties who mostly win as well. It’s not all negative though India has given MFN status to Pakistan and also 5 milllion during the earthquake in 2010. It’s not much but shows all is not negative. Also see loosening of visa restrictions during medical treatment for Pakistani patients. Political point scoring happens during election time which is wrong and then they make gestures like inviting PMs for swearing in ceremonies, travelling to the other country by bus and giving speeches etc. No one has opposed the channels showing Pakistani dramas yet or said anything about billboards advertising the dramas all over in main cities.
