Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

So make the city bigger! As every major metropolis has done!

Everything is complicated by these Indians!

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

Somebody answer my question pleeez! :vivo:
I remember one of the indian guppies had raised the idea of enforcing a federalist type system in India where state gov has just as much power as federal gov with their own separate laws and more autonomy, so I was wondering if that could be possible. Not feasible at all in India’s case I think.

The rate at which UP & Bihari bhayya's are migrating shows the failure of politicians in there states.

Mumbai cant grow. It is a group of islands. There is reclaimed land, but causes lot of flooding.

“Why am I being called a goonda?”

In an open letter to The Maharashtra Times, Raj Thackeray has defended his rhetoric on the north Indians. Defending his action; in a letter titled “My stand and my battle”, Raj Thackeray made references to the Prime Minister’s stance on the turban issue, among many other.

The letter written in Marathi is exclusively available with TIMES NOW.

In the open letter, Raj Thackeray said: “When the French President came to India, the Indian Prime Minister made a request to him on the ban on turbans in France. In Punjab the Akali Dal took the lead to put Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s photograph in the Damdami Taksal.”

Raj further writes: “The LTTE is responsible for Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. But almost all political parties in Tamil Nadu have a connection with the LTTE either this way or that. When Ganguly is removed from the Indian team, all communists in West Bengal take a pro-Bengali position. Is all this not being parochial, regional or communal?”

Hitting out aggressively at his critics, Raj Thackeray said: “Amitabh Bachchan calls himself ‘chora ganga kinare wala’. Is that not parochial? But when I and my party speak out for Marathis and the pride of Maharashtra, we become goondas.”

MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s open letter is to be published on Saturday in The Maharashtra Times.

There has been a sentiment in Mumbai that the Marathi culture is under attack. Less popular leaders among mumbaikars like Lalu Yadav and Amar Singh have been making frequent visits to Mumbai and other places in Maharashtra for celebrating UP fest.

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

What many people forget is that India has one of the most well thought out Constitution that clearly dilineates central and state jurisdictions. Indians in India have very little need or reason to rethink this organization structure. It is only the halfbaked and unbaked self-appointed klutzes from abroad, that too typically of origins from across the border who want to make every skirmish and protest in India into a “oh what shall India do to survive!”.

Take even this very case in Mumbai - Raj Thackaray and company started this stir. Do you know what happened next? The taxi drivers in Mumbai got together protested AGAINST Thackaray for damaging taxis. Thackaray has had to start backtracking. It is that simple and that is how great democracies work.

A group becomes disgruntled about something, political leadership doesn’t pay attention - the groups protests loudly until its complaint is heard and resolved.

If you go talk to anyone within India about ‘implosion’ and ‘changing center-state items for better harmony’ etc they will either look at you strangely or laught at you.

Mumbai cant grow. It is a group of islands. There is reclaimed land, but causes lot of flooding.

Expansion of Mumbai is occurring - Navi Mumba etc.

The flooding a few years was caused by clogged drainage pipes and canals - culprit being plastic bags that had been allowed to pile up in every corner. I have seen this first hand. After the flood many areas started straightening their act and had dramatic results.

For example in a part of Andheri near SEEPZ, an area which had one of the worst flooding episodes because the clogged drainage and the blocking of the Mithi river channel, following the flood they cleaned up, covered the drainage chanel and partially drdeged the Mithi. As a result, last year even during the heavy rain season, the place was almost puddle-less.

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

I know that's what I was saying in one of my previous posts and also in another thread that raised a similar question that the idea of a federalist type gov can't work in India because of the sheer volume and number of languages and subcultures from state to state because establishing a federalist type government would just cause each state to be a separate country of its own within India having absolutely nothing connecting it to other states.

But anyway, I think it was vineshvk, who had suggested that type of gov because he didn't like the idea of having Hindi as a national language along with English but he never went into detail on how exactly a federalist type gov would work in a place like India. I was just curious as to what his thoughts were :)

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

ethically speaking, indians or hindus are also people with hearts and minds and conscience.
they can also be good people.
and when ever in case of any race or creed, domestic and national rifts and hatred is created, the cause is corruption of the same hearts and minds.
some people can delibrately be menacing on any land and from any background.
but for the most part, people who value life and have a sense of shame and karma, wont stoop to the levels of baseness that evil thrives on.
generalization of a nation's character through propaganda statments is not a good thing, be it against any one given race or faith.
what needs to be assessed is, how has the cast system disrupted the day to day life of average Indian citizen and how do they want to control the negative effects of a divided nation between southern and northern India.

best,
Dushwari

ShivSena leader condemns attacks on North Indians

All those people who were dumb enough to think Anti North Indian sentiments were growing in India, read this and at least now get some sense into your foolish heads. Do I sound angry? yes I am. Because of two major mistakes the thread starter made and some fools tried to capitalize on that to express their India hatred:

Mistake 1: The title “in India” is a wild exaggeration for something that happened only in Mumbay

Mistake 2: The interpretation that somehow all of Mumbai or even all Marathas and Maharashtrians felt that way - this is very far from truth.

read on and go bang your enviuous dumb heads on the first hard rock you find you clowns! :rotfl:

Raj spoiling Maharashtra’s image: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai, Feb 9 (IANS) Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray Saturday criticised his estranged cousin Raj Thackeray, saying his campaign against north Indians in Mumbai was ‘spoiling the image’ of Maharashtra and its people.

Mumbai, Feb 9 (IANS) Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray Saturday criticised his estranged cousin Raj Thackeray, saying his campaign against north Indians in Mumbai was 'spoiling the image' of Maharashtra and its people.

Speaking on the issue for the first time after clashes between Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and north Indians, Uddhav Thackeray said: ‘Through such acts, they are not only spoiling the image of Maharashtra but also of the Marathi manoos (Marathi person).’

He, however, did not name Raj Thackeray.

‘People know who is duplicate and who is real. They very well know that Shiv Sena has been fighting for the rights of the Marathi manoos for the last 40 years,’ he said at a function of the Shiv Sena affiliated labour unions in northern Mumbai.

However, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray’s son refused to speak to the media on the violence in Mumbai in recent days. All he said was that the violence was nothing but an attempt to divide the people of Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray’s remarks came a day after the Sena chief sharply reacted to Raj Thackeray’s stance in an editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamna.

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

Aaah... India and Mumbai has been through this thing many times... Sena v/s South Indians etc etc.
Mumbaikars are mature enough to realise that the useless Raj Tackeray is desparate for some votes in the upcoming elections .
Did you even know that when it comes to the State Elections the shrewd Pawar does not even bother about Mumbai votes. He knows where the electoral power is - in rural Maharastra - the sugar belt, konkan etc.

Anti-north sentiments growing in India is a joke.

Re: Anti North Indian sentiments growing in India

I read they may be getting rdy to arrest this Raj Thackeray guy.
