We were scheduled to go, but madam arrived early so we didn't get a chance.

You should definitely go, and I HIGHLY recommend taking breastfeeding classes as well.

I went and found it really helpful. The hospital tour was wonderful cause we did all our paperwork and didn't have to find L&D when I was in labour. Also its really helpful for the husbands as well. I had the time to read up on all the pregnancy labour and delivery books and so did hubby but he said he found it helpful to have the nurse explain the process cause he learns better that way.

As for what happens... we had a nurse conduct ours and it was about all the stages of labour and delivery. What to do once you go into labour, when to come to the hospital, what happens at the hospital after your baby is born --- this one I found extremely helpful as all hospitals have slightly different policies. Also breathing and coping techniques during labour.

I would reccomend it .

^ what she said.. my husband and I had read all kinds of books and articles but hearing it from an expert was different and also it was very specific to the hospital that I will be giving birth at so it was good to know about all the options available and policies for different things! My husband really liked the fact that she told the partners what to do in what situation as he may have been totally clueless before since not many books address those issues in details!

we also did a hospital tour but there were no babies in the nursery that day so that was a bummer.. yes I specifically wanted to see new borns but they encourage rooming in so there were no babies there!!

The class definitely changed my views on epidural, induction, and lots of other medical stuff just because now I have a better understanding of pros and cons for both!

we are also taking welcome baby class next week and I am very much looking forward to it!
