Re: antartica?

You have to tell me why on earth you would go to antartica of all places!

Re: antartica?

I would go there. If i run out of places to go to that is. I'm guessing World Citizen travels alot so im not surprised.

Re: antartica?

I would love to go there one day circumstances permitting.

Re: antartica?

WC, can you let me know how did you manage this and whats required for this kind of trip? I am really interested.

Re: antartica?

Dude, I would love to go there.

For all those who are wondering, what makes people go there, its the sense of adventure that many desans lack.

Re: antartica?

adventure? freezing my head off is not adventure. I would rather visit the sahara desert or some jungles - now thats adventure. :p

Re: not so cold

Shak Kills, there are boats - not the cruise ship type - that leave from southern Argentina. Early booking is necessary. Depending on how much you pay you will share a cabin with one or two other people.

It was exactly one year ago that my ship set sail. Antarctic (c before t) summer was more like winter in Vancouver. There were 50 of us, and we became good friends immediately. We spent 12 days on the boat, with daily shore landings on the continent. The closest I came to a whale was a feet away while on the zodiac boat.

It just wasn’t educational, it was a spiritual experience. Only those who have been there can understand.

Those who say kya fayda - don’t be judgmental.

Re: not so cold

For heavens sake I didnt say kia fayda. I want to know why you would go there. Mountains, ice and snow yes breathtaking but why not just go west? I wanted an explanation, Im interested to know why antartica.

Re: antartica?

My apologies, my comment was not directed at you. There were countless people who had this to say to me before I left, including non-desis, and my father too.

Antarctica, the Sahara desert, Mongolia, the Amazon are not places you go when you run out of places. In fact, the planet is so big, one life is not enough to see it all. To me traveling is like a form of worship.

Re: antartica?

But is there any chai ka khokha there?
I’m just waiting for some global warming to kick in!! :bailan:
Fantastic WC!

Re: antartica?

Oh sorry. Well the reason I dont find it fascinating is because I - in my very ignorant opinion - dont see a difference in that and Western Canada. Or maybe Im just not too crazy about cold regions such as the one we’re discussing.

ohh keep us updated on your future travels! and pics!
ps whats so far - your fav place- that you’ve visited?

Re: not so cold

I see your repping a leafs jacket. I thought people in vancouver hated them?
