Antardwand is a Hindi word, or you can even say a Sanskrit word as it has Sanskrit root and has been taken like that only from there. The word is made up of Antah (अन्तः) and Dwand(द्वंद्व) or rather dwandwa as you might have noticed. Now antah means inner, and dwandwa or dwand means a fight that happens between two people. So antardwand or antardwandwa literally means an inner fight. The word actually implies a fight between thoughts inside one person.
That way, you can say antardwand is ‘dilemma,’ one where you’re unable to decide as a result of contradicting thoughts.
Director Imtiaz Ali and actor Raj Singh Chadhary speak about the new upcoming national award winning film Antardwand. The film is based on a social issue where a guy is picked up on gun point and is forced to marry a girl. This is a taboo and happens primarily in the state of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in India due to malpractices like dowry system and women abuse.
