i dont live with them, we talk on the phone pretty frequently. if i dont like something, i try my best to stay quiet and i never talk back to them.

in my opinion it is not healthy if it becomes a habit b/w two parties to constantly talk back to each other.

Don’t they take you for grated then? I notice when I stay quiet, then my MIL doesn’t shut her mouth and taunt for hours but When I answer back then she is quiet.
