Alhamdulilallah. Good to see people taking part in the democratic process. :k:

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

Oh the sham elections being held under the brutal emergency rule enforced because he is extremely popular amongst the people. In fact it was to suppress people from coming on to the streets to show their love for this great leader that he imposed emergency. Now just like North Koreas ruler he only allows controlled expression of love.

Long live the rigged and sham elections. :jhanda:

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

Alhamdulilallah. Good to see political parties putting forward nominations for the elections. They can always boycott the elections if they are not happy.

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

It is not who vote but how the ballot boxes are stuffed in favor of ML (Q) that will prove that just like their leader Kim they are also so popular that they get 95% of the votes cast. I am sure Mubarik must be feeling jealous.

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

Daleel bhai, let’s rejoice at the democratic process that is continuing to take shape. May the best party win. :k:

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

The best party can only win if they are free and fair elections and not under the power hungry crazy madman.

Re: ANP will be taking part in elections as well

Elections, as always, will be free and fair. May the best party win. :D

The Awami National Party (ANP) on Thursday refused to boycott the general elections unless all opposition parties, including the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), do the same with the resolve to bar the elections at every cost. “The ANP is not in favour of repeating the mistake it committed during the 1985 elections by providing cronies of dictatorship with an opportunity to grab power,” ANP provincial General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain told a press conference. ANP refuses to boycott elections

Awami National Party (ANP) Thursday refused to boycott the general elections unless all opposition parties, including Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), do the same with the resolve to bar the elections at every cost. “ANP is not in favour of repeating the mistake it committed during the 1985 elections by providing cronies of dictatorship with an opportunity to grab power,” ANP Provincial General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain told a press conference. On the occasion, Provincial Chairman of Tehreek Istiqlal Falak Niaz Khattak announced to join ANP.

Mian Iftikhar believed that President Pervez Musharraf was not sincere in holding fair and transparent elections. He said that half-hearted response by the genuine political forces to boycott elections was bound to benefit pro-Musharraf forces. He said that in case of boycott, the whole nation should join hands to launch movement against holding of elections. The ANP leader claimed that the president announced general elections only after he was convinced that the protest movement initiated by the political parties, lawyers and civil society would force him out of power corridors and by announcing the same he attempted to create divisions among them. To a question, he said that Musharraf as president of the country was not acceptable to ANP even without uniform as he had taken unconstitutional steps to reach the power corridors. He said that after doffing uniform, the democratic forces should now oust him from the presidency through a vigorous movement. He also held Musharraf responsible for what he called the bloodshed and unrest on the Pakhtun soil including Swat and Waziristan Agencies.

Regarding the party’s strategy for the upcoming elections, the ANP leader said that party decision of seat to seat adjustment at district level during the 2002 elections did not bear the desired results and if any electoral alliance was formed, it would be at the provincial level. On the occasion, Falak Niaz Khattak announced to resign from his party and join ANP in presence of ANP candidate for PF-15 Nowshera Khalil Abbas Khan, ANP Nowshera District Haji Dilaram Khan and others. Falak Niaz Khan asked all the political parties to join hands against Musharraf, saying that he had mala fide intentions behind holding general elections in the country. He said that all the genuine political parties should boycott the elections under Musharraf, as there would be large-scale rigging for electing his own people to the Parliament.
