This proves a very significant point. The Matooz of the MMA which never went beyond 2-3 seats as JI and JUI never went more than 2-3 seats (even Qazi lost himself), suddenly starts getting votes in the previous elections, was primarily because they banked on the anti-american vote, and now people have experienced their hypocrisy, and double standards and the ANP which was considered wiped off by many political analysts is back as the strongest force in the NWFP.

^ not neccessarily Spock..there is a big difference between local, provincial and federal elections. The MMA sweeped the NWFP federal elections, but it only managed 2/3rd in the provincial. What it does show is the MMA wave in the Frontier has ended..but people generally don't vote Mullah in local elections as much as they would vote at other levels and local elections cough up strange alliance...there was a PML-Q/MMA alliance in karachi under the previous Nazim and a PPP-JI alliance in peshawar under Peshawars old Nazim. What is interesting is how well the JI has still done in urban settings like Karachi this time around (despite the MQM factor) and it remains to be seen what is going to happen in Lahore and Pindi..

I'm not too fond of these ANP, MQM type parties...

If anything ANP will be more detrimental for Pakistan than the Mullah's, Mullah's are the least of our problems, if anything they were doing Pakistan a favour in those areas...

Trust me, the MMA wont do much in the next elections… ANP will make a huge comeback in NWFP, there was a time when even PPP (at its strongest position) couldnt take their seats. I am not too fond of the ANP either, but they will be back for sure.
