The title of the essay is so estupeed. Lumping Pashtuns in the settled area of Pak with FATA or Af-tibals is mockery of educated Pashtuns at best.

Even Pashtuns cannot occupy FATA tribals, and you say Americans will come occupy them. Funny funny.
Another BIIIIG flaw in this Kabuli analysis is to paint Pak army as "Punjabi army". This is the same thinking that has destroyed Kabulies when they oppress hazaras and generate infighting between Pashtuns, Uzbeks, and Tajiks. We can't even imagine that Kabulis will have the likes of Gen. Dostum who practically roasted 1000s of Pashutns. Such is the love between different ethnicities in F-stand.
So far (and no one can tell about future), Pak army bring together warrior but disciplined tribes from Punjab AND Frontier.
Thus the officers of Pak army are dominated by Punjabis AND Pashtuns.
That's where commie leftie Kabulis always made a mistake of misunderstanding Pakistan's ruling elite.
Another BIIIG flaw in this essay is the rehash of old commie leftie Kabulis and their Indian masters.
That to null and void the border between Pak and Af-stan.
This line of thought creates instability in Pak, but the same thought UTTERLY destroys F-stan.
If not for many many other reasons, it is purely a numbers game.
Remember, F-stan is roughly equals to population of ONE city of Pak, aka Karachi.
In modern warfare, no country with such pathetic poverty stricken areas with NO resources can go up against 10 times bigger opponent and win.
But it does create HUGE instability in Afghanistan, because by the same reasons it becomes a borderless country.
However it will be too difficult to understand for the limited brain capacity F-leaders sitting in Kabul and dreaming about destroying Pak.
Judging from your writing, one thing seems very true that is mentioned in this article that "Punjabis have deep contempt for Pashtuns" just like they did for Bungalis.
