Dahi phulki is dahi with boondi(pakoriya) in it.
I say dahi pullay and seviya. I think this is the punjabi way. And the other words r Urdu so u can't really say which one is right/wrong way of saying it.
Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
bhallay if you are punjabi and barray if you are karachian.
Damn my small screen. That was supposed to be an up vote.
@ op I'm punjabi and we say bhallay. So I think it depends on where you are from.

Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
As long as the letter **M **is there, doesn’t matter if it is Semiya or Semiyaan. ![]()
OP meant Semviyan vs Seviyaan not Semiya vs Semiyaan. :halo: #usebrainnotankle](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=usebrainnotankle)
Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
Okay, so “saim” or “saym” are green beans. Now every time I hear seymiyan I think someone’s made a dessert out of green beans ![]()
Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations

Dahi vadai
Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
Err...the word bhallay annoys me. I say dahi baray.
And for the vermicelli, I pronounce it as suh-vaiy-yan too...similar to the name sumaiyya in terms of how syllables are broken down.

You are wrong on all counts.
So what else is new?
Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
In our home..we say Dahil Bhallay...grew up calling that. Dahir barayyy sounds weird to me. Like..what baray..?lol
And..yaa..it's su-uhvaiayah...

Re: another year, another debate on pronunciations
Everyone in my part of the world calls it Dahi Barray and Sivaiyan. But my Paki cousins call it Dahi bhallay.
